The 2010 season for Farmers Market in Granville, Ohio is coming to close this Oct, 23rd. Make plans to to scoop up the goodies this Saturday! Buying directly from local growers & vendors is a great way to enjoy the fresh taste of organically grown produce & fruits. The cottage industry bakers, and candy makers have some of the best products I've ever tasted.

Here are just a few things you may find at the market...the winter veggies are coming in and so I had to say so long to the delicious corn & tomatoes from a few weeks ago but don't fret yet, there are many more items to chose from at this diverse Farmer's Market.

The organic Asian mix with arugula was out of this world! I made my salad that evening w/ diced apples, red grapes, thinly sliced red peppers, freshly grated Parmesan cheese and my own balsamic vinaigrette, yummm. Look at Greta making those gorgeous hand tied European bouquets as fast as the people were buying them!

Talk about warm & cozy these alpaca socks fill the bill for my tootsies! Jack & Nancy Lee were a pleasure to speak to with that day. A sweater may soon be on my list.

Hey...I'll take one of those, the one in the fuzzy sweater & shades. The other guy on right ain't too bad either...how much for both? Can you throw in a pumpkin too?

Cynthia, I LOVE our local farmers markets and try to go to them as much as possible.  They're just coming back into full swing here in Arizona now that we have tolerable weather.  One thing I've found recently is our locally grown honey.  I have 2 friends who SWEAR that it's really helped their seasonal allergies here and it's on my list of must buys as soon as I can get to a local market.

Great photos, BTW.

LOL Roger, I'm quiet modest by nature but I spurt out the most inane things at times. I quite like the moniker now, very regal...it goes with The Queen Wave nicely. As for the wreath........

Why Barbara, you have made my week with your resplendent comment, thanks and ((hug)) for that! I'm going there now to get some delicious scones, why I think I'm developing the Granville Pudge. I'll just make sure I purchase some zucchini and greens to make up for those yummy treats! Yes I'm sad to see it go but there is always the anticipation of June...ahhhhh

Ruh-roh Tammy would that be Glen or Laney??? Heck bring them both ;~D

Chris, you and me both, I never tire looking at those gorgeous sunflowers either, they always make me smile :~)

Oh man Russell, aren't these Farmers Markets the best? We have quite a diverse group here in Granville, one can even buy...drum roll please...free range chickens & some kind of special beef. With you being a foodie I suspected you had your sources to the freshest ingredients Mr. Peach Salsa Winner! I'm so very fortunate to have one right down the street from me!!!

Juli, isn't it grand? My grandparents had a huge farm and that fresh taste is something I'll never forget, I was spoiled from the beginning :~) Glad to read you're weather has let up so everyone can enjoy  the fresh bounty. I found a local honey here too, they will even sell it year round in the local grocery store. It's in my morning tea as I write this. Hey if it's working for your friends keep that honey flowing baby, Woo-Hoo!

Cynthia, Farmers Markets are a great way to support the local community and "farm fresh" is so appealing. I used to go to the farmers market in Woodstock Illinois to buy veggies and even Bison meat (tenderloin/fillets) from a local grower...there was definitely a difference in taste.  You continue to paint a wonderful picture of Granville.

Good Morning my GA friend, yes there is lots to do here and I'm only in the discovery stages of my new hometown. Thanks for your kind words on the photos Patsy, much appreciated!

Morning Nick, this town is quite picturesque indeed. I don't think there was Bison carcass at this Farmers market but I could be wrong....I'm a vegetarian but I do cook carcass for my husband, and friends. They even come back for seconds :~) The freshness of the foods at these markets can't be beat!

Hey Maureen, hope your Sunday is going well! Oh yes the people & dog watching is so much fun. So glad you enjoyed the photos, thanks :~D

Hi Kathy, Glad to read so many are supporting the local growers!!! Now I'm jealous of you Kathy, a year round market would be my dream. Granville is an older Historical town and very picturesque to say the least.

Hey I came backto give you a suggestion. I do not know if you are on Twitter and though I have been slow to see the relevance it's finally dawned on me that it's been a great way to connect with folks who have similar interests here in Austin, Foodies, Music, Film, Running etc. and I've actually connected with a number of local people at our Farmers Market. Might be a cool way for you to learn more about your new home!

Gee Karen, I don't know the answer to that! Off the Mayors' office I go ;)

Hey Mary, weren't those sunflowers awesome? I could have snapped Gretta's picture all day, the website and their story are worth checking out. Sorry I wan;t trying to taunt you my cozy sock, lol!!!

Hey Russell, I welcome all suggestions...I do not tweet nor can I whistle! But Ted and I have been getting to know the locals & owner's of the pubs & restaurants and we chat them up rather frequently. It's a small town population 3,200 but when college students are in session is it rises to 5,100. Denison University is smack in the middle of downtown.

That is greatl how you were able to connect w/ other foodies & film buffs in your area through Twitter. I appreciate you coming back to help out this gal :~)

Once again you have outdone yourself in the photo department....making us all feel like we are there!!!!  Beautiful.

Love the salad, the greens looked de-lish!!!  CVozy socks, fuzzy dogs and gorgeous flowers.  Hope we get to do some of these awesome things when Sharon and I come to visit.    I have a friend in Avon Lake who what to come join us one day for lunch during the visit.

Keep these wonderful posts coming - I so enjoy them....although they don't your place, at least I feel closer to you - LOL.

Peggy a/k/a Dot, The Farmer's Market doesn't start up again till June I was sad to see it go :( You would have loved the flowers.... the colors so vibrant and the cutest gal was making those bouquets so fast.

I hope you aren't working too hard but I know better. So glad you can keep tabs on me through these blog posts....

John, let me tell you that candy was very yummy!!! The weather keeps changing back and forth from sweater weather to t-shirt weather but I'm sure it won't last long......I'm waiting snow!
