Home Values & Education

By
Real Estate Agent with Maryland Residential Realty

I recently passed by a sign at Hillcrest Elementary School in Catonsville, Maryland and it read, "Property values are directly proportionate to school Quality". As a realtor I have found this to be very true. Today's young buyers rank "Quality of Life" as their number one goal when searching for a community to live and number one on that list is the quality of the school system. If you want proof, look at all of the communities where home values have escalated or have fallen the least during these tuff economic times and you will find that they have one thing in common, Great Schools. I see this even in the older communities around the Metro Baltimore area. An example would be, Rogers Fordge, Towson and Catonsville just to name a few. In the 1980′s and even to present times buyers have flocked into Howard County, Maryland because of their outstanding school system Today I am seeing people returning to some of Baltimore's older communities for the same reason and Catonsville is tops on their list.
