The email looked very official, and would have made me jump at the link immediately, except that I have never had any type of account at all with Bank of America.

If I did have an account with them, I probably would have thought that I needed to jump there immediately and give them whatever they asked for. Only once have I had a problem with strange activity on one of my charge accounts, and that provider phoned me for verification and required me to use my secret questions before they would tell me the nature of the problems.

It's strange, because this is the second such email I have gotten this week, with the first one being form Citi Group, and I likewise have nothing with them. Be especially wary of these scam emails.

I see these from various companies every day it seems. Sad they try this. I normally dont have accounts there so thats tip off. If you have an account then you have to think.

YES, IT ALSO DO AND NORMALLY I DO NOT HAVE ACCUNTS THEIR EITHER, HOWEVER, IF I HAPPEN TO HAVE AN ACCOUNT I SIMPLY CALL THE BANK AND VERIFY. THEY ARE ALWAYS CONSISTANTLY SURE THAT THEY ARE NOT SENDING ANY SUCH EMAILS OUT.

I have received this very same email several times of late.  And, like you, I don't have an account with them either.  However, if I did, I would not jump very high.  I would go to the bank in person.  Scams are hitting very hard.

Ed I have also received e-mails like that and I just hit delete.  Banks call you if they see strange activity with an account, they don't do it by e-mail.  I wonder if there is a way to track the sender and report them.

I get these all the time...and once it was a legitimate alert for my bank account. If I have an account with the company who sends me something....I go into the account via my normal route, and check. I was glad the one time I did find it was real. $4000 had been stolen from my checking account and we stopped it in time, money is back and all is well. Scary stuff.
