The Geist Resivoir is located on the North-East side of Indianapolis on the Marion and Hamilton county line. Land aquisitions by Indianapolis Water Company began around 1924 and the entire project was finished around 1943. Originally purchased and built as a water supply for Indianapolis. The resevior is fed by Fall Creek on the North side. The dam itself was contructed in 1942 and is located in the 8200 block of Fall Creek Road. The waterfront has been built up with beautiful homes that range in price of $1 - 5 millionYou will also find many canals and coves that form off the lake. Many celebraties like Reggie Miller of the Indiana Pacers have called Geist home. The Geist area was originally developed by Shorewood Developers in the 1980's and since that time has seen thousands of homes built around the area and many changes. This includes the Fishers area of Hamilton County. In 1968, Lawrence began the process of annexation. Oaklandon held the process off until 1976 at which time, it became a part of Lawrence. In those many changes was the loss of Germantown now at the bottom of Geist Lake.
