The end of October is already here!  I hope you have taken advantage of all the fun Halloween and other fall activities.  Please remember to scroll down through previous posts as there may be things to do that aren't mentioned in this list.

 

Here's what's happening this coming weekend....

 

Friday October 29 

 

1) Scared By The Sound - Haunted House at Rye Playland, Rye NY 10580 - 8pm-11pm - (Also available on Sat & Sun) - Admission for adults is $14 and $10 for children under 12 - This is held rain or shine and is not recommended for children under 10.  Contact 914.813.7010 for more info.

 

2) Halloween Party At Harbor Island Beach - Mamaroneck NY - 3:30-4:30 - Admission is FREE - The village of Mamaroneck will present a Halloween party for children featuring entertainment, audience participation, juice, and snacks.  Open to children up to 3rd grade that reside in Mamaroneck.  Children are encouraged to come in costume.  For more info contact 914.777.7784

 

3) BOOFEST - Lyndhurst, Tarrytown NY 10591 - 5pm-9pm - Admission is $10 for adults, $7 for children ages 3-12, reservations are required - This evening will be interactive, including barn dancing, a silly 19th entury Mansion tour, a fortune teller, story telling witches, trick or treating, and a tour of 500 scarecrows!  for reservations and more info contact 914.631.4481 ext 43230

 
4) Harrison Halloween Parade - Harrison NY - 5:30 - Admission is FREE - Come and join in the Harrison Halloween parade.  The parade will travel from Parsons School to Riis Park, all ages are welcome.  for more info contact 914.670.3035

 

5) Folk Music Concert At First Baptist Church - 7pm - Ward Pound Ridge Reservation - Rte 35 & 121 South, Cross River NY 10518 - Admission is FREE, for more info contact 914.864.7317

 

Saturday October 30

 

1) Survive: An Alternative Reality Game (Session 2) - 9am-1pm - Trailside Nature Museum, Ward Pound Ridge Reservation - Rtes 35 & 121, Cross River, NY 10518 - Admission is $25 and includes all craft materials, Parking is $4 with county pass and $8 without. - Joing Jim Jinkins, cartoonist, storyteller, time traveler, and park enthusiast for an alternative reality game.  Pre-registraion is required, max of 12 participants aged 10-12, contact 914.864.7322 to register and for more info.

 

2) Aqueduct Hike - 11am - Lenoir Preserve - Dudley St, Yonkers NY 10701 - Admission is FREE - Take a relaxing hike along the aqueduct as you learn all about its history and take in the beautiful views. Contact 914.968.5851 for more info

 

3) Creepy Creatures of Halloween - 1pm - Read Sanctuary - Rye Playland, Rye NY 10580 - Admission is FREE - Get ready for Halloween fun and meet live animals.  Wear your costumes.  Contact 914.967.8720 for more info

 

4) Halloween Owl Prowl - 7pm-9pm - Muscoot Farm - Rte 1, Somers NY 10589 - Admission is FREE - Learn about these fascinating nocturnal creatures.  Bring a flashlight and meet in the activity building.  Contact 914.864.7282 for more info.

 

5) Dig-A-Tree - 10am - (also on Sunday) - Marshlands Conservancy - Admission is FREE - come help yourself to native trees from a designated area of the meadow in preparation for mowing the meadow in April.  There are many Black Cherry and Sweet Gum.  Bring work gloves, a spade, loppers, and bags and be prepared to dig.  Please arrive promptly at 10am for orientation.  People will be available to help with identification and tips for transplanting.  Contact 914.835.4466 for more info.

 

Sunday October 31

 

1) Irvington Halloween Parade - 2:15 (lineup begins at 2) - Immaculate Conception School parking lot, Irvington NY 10533 - Admission is FREE.  The parade begins in the Immaculate Conception parking lot and ends in the Main St School parking lot - Refreshments, trick or treat bags, and music will be provided.

 

2) Dig-A-Tree - 10am - See posting on October 30 for details

 

3) Boo Walk - Noon-3pm - Muscoot Farm - Rte 100, Somers NY 10589 - Admission is FREE - Enjoy a Halloween scavenger hunt through the woods, come in costume. Contact 914.864.7282 for more info.
