This isn't exactly a Pay it Forward, but I'd still like the Pay It Foward Group to know about it:
If you didn't know by now, I'm a huge booster of the Trevor Project and the "It Gets Better" campaign on YouTube. Both projects are part of the anti-bullying program,, which is including public announcements by everyone from celebrities to the President. The campaign evolved out of a high profile suicide at Rutgers university of a young gay man who was relentlessly bullied.
This "It Gets Better" video is a song written by Blair Shepard, a former new homes agent from San Francisco who used to work for the Mark Company. Blair moved to NYC and is now making it big on Broadway. The singers are all young Broadway stars. I won't hesitate to admit that I'm a sucker for show tunes, so this one was worth the share.
I know we all joke about gay men loving Broadway show tunes, but I'm certain some small-town teenager is watching this video and dreaming of becoming the next Lance Bass or Neal Patrick Harris-- and thinking for the first time that this dream is not only achievable but even acceptable.
