I didn't think about Real Estate as being a stressful job. I figure if you are organized, stay on top pf all the situations, and know where to turn when problems do arise, you have nothing to worry about. It also helps to have a wife, who constantly reminds you not to count your chickens before the hatch.
Top 10 Most Stressful Jobs
International Business Times (09/30/10) Tracey, Melissa Dittmann
After analyzing the work environment, competitiveness, and job risk for 200 types of work positions, CareerCast has listed real estate agent among the top 10 most stressful. One reason, according to the firm's 2010 Jobs Rated report, is because competition among professionals in the field has increased as the economy has weakened. Besides the competitive nature of the business, the sector is characterized by long hours and grueling schedules. "Real estate agents and brokers work long, erratic hours, spending much of their time showing properties to clients," the report pointed out. "They must be extremely independent, and able to handle sales quotas and deadline pressures." The analysis showed that REALTORS® typically work 9.5 hours per day, during which they encounter "high" time pressure and "very high" competition. Other professions on CareerCast's list included first responders such as firefighters, police officers, and highway patrol officers; taxi drivers and commercial pilots; surgeons; and high-profile business positions, such as corporate executives, public relations officers, and advertising account executives.
