Austin Community College - Austin, Texas Sets Enrollment Record

logoWow...the fall of 2010 Austin Community College saw a 10% jump in its credit student enrollment, setting a new record.  The total credit enrollments peaked at 44,100 spread throughout its 8 campuses.

Last fall enrollment was 40,248 students.  The Northridge campus has the highest ACC enrollment with 10,219 students.

ACC also has an additional 15,000 students enrolled in non-credit courses. There are 235 degrees and certificates offered plus a wide range of other educational choices to meet the needs of residents and employers in an eight county service area.

ACC is the leading source of transfer students to the University of Texas-Austin and Texas State University-San Marcos.  Austin is very fortunate to have the University of Texas located downtown but the competition for entering is stiff and many find starting at ACC and transferring is the easiest and most affordable way.  It's a viable choice for many seeking higher education and allows the student to commute from home.  Check out what ACC has to offer through it's website at www.austincc.edu.

Not to be a wet blanket, but students are enrolling or going to grad, etc. school because of the unemployment situation of various economies.  Not sure if that's a factor in TX.

Hi Lenn,

In texas many can't gain entrance into UT because of their enrollment polices so many students live at home (to save money) and go to ACC and transfer into UT after 2 years. ACC has grown by leaps and bounds in the last 10 years..their 8 campuses are scattered all over Austin and make it easy for students to commute from home.

Smart, smart planning.

Will probably result in more students joining the Texas work force rather than leaving the state.

A jump of nearly 4000 students is quite a gain.

When the economy gets better hopefully we will be a better educated public and workforce in more ways than 1!

Hi Lenn,

Students at UT usually want to find a job in Austin..sometimes students who live in Austin would like to see them find work elsewhere! Competition is stiff for jobs.

Good evening Judi,

A jump of 4,000 students is quite a gain! ACC has great facilities and prices..it's a good value for money spent.
