Legend of Sleepy Hollow & A Hauntingly Good Time At The Vanderbilt Museum in Centerport, NY - Halloween Weekend

Next weekend, in celebration of Halloween, the Vanderbilt Museum & Planetarium in Centerport, New York, on Long Island's north shore, will host events for the whole family.  From 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Sunday bring the youngsters to an interactive retelling of bedtime stories.  Huge images, projected under star filled skies, will excite the younger set and bring new life to tales of old.  Come in costume for Our Night Out and greet other ghosts and goblins in this family friendly venue.

For the older kids (18 and up), there's the Vanderbite Ball.  They'll enjoy a buffet dinner, soft drinks, music by a classic rock band and a chance to win a contest for best costume, so get creative.

The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, a short story by Washington Irving was first published in 1920 and is mid run at the Vanderbilt Carriage House theater.  From October 9th through November 14th, the Arena Players Children's Theater will present the classic tale of Icabod Crane, a fawning, lean and lanky schoolmaster who competes with "Brom Bones," the town rowdy for the hand of 18 year old Katrina Van Tassel, the only child of wealthy farmer, Baltus Van Tassel.

In this delightful audience participation play, the children can participate with the school children, sing songs, tell ghost stories and learn about the headless horseman.
