The Cohasset Sailing Club looks to Create a new home

One of the many great benefits to living in Cohasset are the Stunning Views from along the rocky coast!  Many of us often drive the long way home to simply take in the fabulous views we are ever so fortunate to enjoy.  The views of Mass Bay are as captivating on beautiful summer day in July as they can be amidst a Nor'easter in the dead of winter.

We are even more lucky to have access to the water via the Cohasset Sailing Club. Since the Cohasset Sailing Club was chartered in 1960, it has offered sailing lessons to the children of Cohasset ever since.  And the popularity of the program has grown to the point where 265 kids participated in the program last summer.  This program is a often forgotten about benefit to living in our little seaside community a short train ride to Boston.

But after an extensive review of the current facility, the repairs it needs, and the demands on the building, it was decided that a new, larger facility would be more suitable.  The proposed plan is to raise the existing one-story building and create a 2-1/2-story structure increasing the gross footage of the building by over 30 percent.  The proposed building is 1785 square feet, compared to the current building of 1277 square feet.  Kudos go to Hoadley Martinez Architects, based in Cohasset Village, for their pro bono design of a new clubhouse.  The design will have the look of a true New England Boat house but will be a green building in nature.
