Howe to Be A Real Housewife of Potomac

Avenel is a planned community dating from the 1980s (shortly before I became a Realtor) on the site of a large farm not far from Potomac Village.  The community’s street boundaries are Persimmon Tree Road on the north, Country Club Drive on the east, Rock Run Park on the south, and Avenel Farm Drive on the west.  Oaklyn Drive, its main street, winds through the neighborhood with other streets like Crimson Leaf and Avenel Farm Drive branching off.  It is a golf course community of expensive single-family homes and townhomes built around TPC at Avenel, a private golf club operated by the PGA Tour and home of the Booz Allen Classic (formerly the Kemper Open).

Some of the most expensive homes in Montgomery County, Maryland are located in Avenel.   Although the neighborhood is known for its large and stately luxury homes, Avenel is also home to Montgomery County’s example of inclusionary zoning, as the neighborhood also has a large number of smaller single family Cape Cod homes which seamlessly blend into the community.  Located on Pleasant Gate Lane, these homes which list in the mid $400,000s are approximately 1320 sq ft on the two above grade levels and offer 4 bedrooms, and 2.5 baths.  Avenel includes two communities of large town homes, one built by Mitchell and Best and the other built by Sam Pardoe.  The term town home may be slightly deceptive since they are both communities of town homes back to the fairways with more than 2700 square feet of living space.

FEATURED RESTAURANT – POTOMAC PIZZA

Avenel is home to some of the most expensive homes in Montgomery County but it is also close to Potomac Village.  A perennial favorite is Potomac Pizza in the Potomac Village - popular with all -

where you can find some of the best pizza around! A delicious favorite since 1978, Potomac Pizza is one of Maryland’s most beloved family restaurants. Potomac Pizza uses the freshest ingredients to create both traditional and healthy gourmet pizzas and offers a casual atmosphere that local residents have come to depend on.

My favorite pizza is the Nelson Eddie – with anchovies, black olives, Canadian bacon, green peppers, ground beef, mushrooms, onions, pepperoni and Italian sausage, but you might prefer the meat and cheese calzone stuffed with a combination of sausage, pepperoni and Canadian bacon, covered with mozzarella, provolone and ricotta cheese.

If you are working with a charity that needs a contribution to the silent auction, then you should definitely call Potomac Pizza to ask for a contribution from them.   Good pizza and generous too!

What a great Localism post. Great idea to feature a restaurant too. Selling that home would really make it an awesome holiday season this year.
