UPDATE: This adorable home received a full price offer after only 2 days on the market, and is now SOLD!

One of the benefits of professional home staging is that the home is seen at its very best, including showing as much "space" as possible.  Potential buyers who view a home are usually wondering, "will my furniture fit here?"

portland oregon home staging

One of our goals in staging is to make sure that buyers will "see" the space that the house has, so we don't  use unnecessary furnishings.  We've found that this approach makes the house the "star" of the viewing, rather than the furnishings; the homes that we've staged over the past two years have an average Days on Market of less than 28 days.  One of our recent staging projects was a 1,275-sq ft home  where we needed to show buyers that it's roomier than it might appear when empty, or when viewed with too much furniture.

Here are some Before & After Photos of this Portland cottage-style home, starting with the living room; we suggested a more neutral wall color, and staged the room with just enough furniture so that buyers could "see" the space that they'd be buying:

In the guest bedroom, the furniture was over-sized and crowded this small room.  Staging it as a child's room made sense since the target buyer is a couple or family with one child:portland home stagers

The master bedroom presented a challenge because of its size, so we staged it to show buyers that there's room for two nightstands -- perhaps they'll want to install a plasma screen on the wall opposite the bed:home staging company portland OR

In the dining area, the previous rectangular table was too large to allow for movement, so we selected a glass-topped round table and used just 3 chairs.  Buyers will see that a 4th chair will fit, but our goal was to show as much space as possible:portland home staging experts

Maureen - Fresh, clean, bright and spacious come to mind.  What buyer wouldn't want all that, and you made it happen!  Congratulations on such a speedy sale.  I'm not suprised - the home looks fantastic.

Hi Marianne ~ Thank you!  Aren't we lucky to be in a career that allows our creativity to flourish, and help our clients at the same time?

Hi Sally ~ Thanks, just this morning the seller confirmed that this house is in escrow with a closing date of Dec. 3rd.  Two days after listing is a pretty nice result -- and they're happy they took my advice about painting and a few small cosmetic improvements  :-)

Hi Karen ~ (or is that Nerak LOL?)  Thanks for your enthusiastic support!  This home is under contract, and we've already scheduled the de-staging ... seems like we staged it a month ago instead of just 7 days ago.  :-)

Hi Cindy ~ You are the Queen of AR stagers my friend!!   Congrats once again.....

Hi Linda ~ You are too kind (and I totally appreciate it).  Opening up the space in this house was critically important.  Buyers just have to "see" what they're buying, don't they.  Thanks for your continued support  :-)

What a difference proper staging can make in a home, large or small.  It looks like you just increased the square footage by at least 25%.  Nice Job!

Ms. Magician,

The "after" pictures look like a different house.  How did you do that?  Oh, I almost forgot, you're a magician.  I hope lots of Portand Realtors see your great staging work.  You're single-handedly improving the Portland market.  I too have had excellent results with listings I've had staged in Silicon Valley, so your stats don't surprise me.

Stunning transformations.  I agree lets remember those summer properties when it comes to staging.

Hi Lyn ~ Thanks, I know you believe in the benefits of staging too.

Hi Doug ~ When a home has too much squeezed in, it looks smaller than it actually is.  We just open up the space that was hiding :-)

Hi Lloyd ~ Good to hear that staging helps in selling your listings faster, in the Silicon Valley area.

Hi Sandy ~ Thanks so much for your feedback!

Hi Tatyana ~ It was a fun project to see the transformation, thank you.

Hi Wendy ~ This isn't a summer property :-)  Here in Portland this style of home is referred to as a "cottage" but it's a year-round home in the city.
