Closet Organization It's a Project!

 

WELCOME TO MY CLOSET PROJECT

Earlier this week I was showing a very nice new  $375,000 home to a prospective buyer.  When we entered the Master Bath where the Master Closet was located the door was opened and hangers were on the doorknob.  When we tried to walk in the closet we could not navigate.  Has this ever happened to you?

Sometimes our closets become neglected.  This inspired me to work in my own closet while switching out summer/winter clothing and getting rid of things you don't wear anymore and pull out my winter boots and shoes!

 Closet space is  becoming high on the priority list with today's savvy buyers.  Its not always about granite counters in the kitchen, or the large master suite with the fabulous spa tub!  Families need space!

One thing that has grown in popularity with newer homes are the large Master closets!  Builders have finally taken note that YES there is a need for shoe space and shelves!

How do your closets appear?

Not everyone can afford to have Closet Tailors come in and customize their closet. However Home Depot and Lowes all sell do it yourself closet organizers.  You can even find neat organization items at Target and Wal-Mart!

I recently purchased some organizers at Target to use in  my daughter's closet.  If you have teenagers, you know how many T-Shirts they accumulate!  You can organize those easily in a stacked hanger.

A few tricks to improve the look of your closet is  just simple organization.  Yeah I know it sounds boning, but go out and purchase plastic hangers and take some time to group your clothing in sections. I'm not asking you to color code your clothing, just make the closet neat in appearance.

• hang pants together
• hang skirts together
• hang jackets together
• sort short sleeve vs long sleeve shirts

Try not to have anything on the floor of the closet you want it to appear clutter free.

Neatly stack sweaters, shoes, purses or baskets on the shelves.

If you have children you can purchase the plastic totes or baskets to organize the toys stored in the closet.

It pays to keep your closets in order and you will be glad you did!
