Chocolates, are created from cocoa beans and was introduced by the Spanish explorers in the 16th century. At that time chocolate was used as food and also as currency. The chocolate brought by Spaniards was also known as bitter drink. The present form of chocolate was introduced by Europeans. They mixed sugar and milk into it and created the taste of chocolate which we enjoy today.

With time, chocolate went under many renovations till the chocolate factory came into being in the United States in 1765. Within no time, the chocolate bars became famous all over US and across the globe. To celebrate this heavenly drink, United States observes the National Chocolate Day.

So how will you be celebrating this important day?

Oh dear.  This looks amazing. Thank goodness I can't have sugar.  I would be in trouble.

Your photos are as scrumptious as those chocolate delights!  Thanks for the background info on chocolate -- how interesting that it was once used as currency!  I love dark chocolate in any form....you're lucky to have such great suppliers nearby.

Funny thing, a lot of us celebrate as if it were National Chocolate Day many days of the year :-)

Don't worry Maureen, I'm sure we're not the only ones over celebrating Chocolate Day!

If they do they better be edible cards Sharon.

Thanks Mary. Hard to resist with yummies like these around.
