The President of Divisiveness - Urging One Group of Americans to Punish Another Grouop

By
Real Estate Agent with Retired

I have been around through 25% of our presidents. Ok, I really don't remember anything of Truman, or even much about Eisenhower, but I do remember the actions of the 10 since. And, for the most part, 9 of them, at least when speaking, treated the American people with, if not respect, at least no disrespect. Ok, there was that one guy that insisted he was not a crook..........

But now we have a president that is blatant in his disregard and disrespect for the American people. A president that has no qualms about inciting divisiveness. A president that does not hide is arrogance and elitism. A president that makes it clear that he knows better than the rest of the masses.

We caught glimpses of it on the campaign trail, from the lack of arugula in Iowa to Pennsylvanian's clinging to their guns and religion in front of an audience in San Francisco. But since he has been in office, this rhetoric has stepped up. He has attempted to demean and diminish anyone opposed to his platform. He has played the race card. And now he is not only playing the race card but literally calling out one group of Americans against another.

While in an interview on the Hispanic Television channel Univision, Obama said  "If Latinos sit out the election, instead of saying we're going to punish our enemies and we're gonna reward our friends who stand with us on issues that are important to us. If they don't see that upsurge in voting in this election, then, I think it going to be harder."

This is how the president views those who disagree with him, as enemies. And this is what he is urging Latinos to see those who vote for non-democratic candidates this election, as enemies. But than again, this is the same president that said that if the republicans win the house that he would be fighting them day and night.

This lack of grace, this type of rhetoric, this blatant divisiveness, this arrogance is unbecoming of the position of president. The presidency is for all the people, not just his friends and supporters. He owes the American people an apology.

He owes the American people respect!

Mike, this president came to divide. "Rules for Radicals" by Alinsky is his textbook. Tuesday is our first step to defeat him and 2012 we can finally put this guy out to pasture.

Mike, he acts like a spoiled brat, and not at all presidential.  Next week is a wake up call for him.

I rarely comment on political posts but I must say that I have seen a lot of his arrogance coming through lately and it is at the very least, unbecoming.

Mike, Don't you know he is the "Anointed One" LOL. You know I agree with you 100%. This man has damaged the country in so many ways it will take a lot of healing to fix it.

Mike, I feel the same way you do.  I can't watch him any longer, his body language is so arrogant and condescending it drives me crazy.  Like you I have been around a long time and have never witnessed a president who lets you know you will be punished if you question his enlightened opinions.  In the beginning I was willing to give the guy a chance just as I have for other Presidents I did not vote for, but Obama sounds like he wants a revolution in this Country. What is wrong with him??

Mike- It is pathetic that he needs to tell voters to "punish their enemies" by voting.  I haven't been around as long as some folks, but has any American President ever said THAT during an election?

Punish your enemies?  yes we should and they are not Americans.....  He needs to take a lesson from his own book.

"Reward your friends"  Since when is the government truly a friend to anyone unless they want to get re-elected and bail out their own party?  It is always about them... not always about the people.

Mike - And this President was supposed to be a uniter, not participating in partisan politics.  And yet he recently said that if Republicans win in congress it would be "hand to hand combat."  What he fails to realize is that it won't be congress he's fighting, but the American people who are demanding change.

Obama doesn't owe us an apology.  He just needs to get the hell out of the way.

Mike...  More importantly than his lack of grace is the fact that he is now losing the hearts of his very believers. The big lie has brought the chickens home to roost it looks like to me.

Yolanda - I am not sure that he will understand what happens

Barb - very understated

Bob - he had help, including millions of voters who bought into sloganism and a previous congress that lost its way

Lois - I really hoped that he would work out, it was an historical election, to bad history has been let down

Mike,

I agree and I'm saddened by the apparent lack of respect he has for the Office of the Presidency. Like it or not, he is the President for the entire country, not just Democrats. His appearances in several venues makes the Office look cheap.

It's very sad to see the divisiveness coming out of the White House, the President is the President of ALL THE PEOPLE.

Good luck and success.

Even more sad is the lack of coverage and criticism from the mainstream media who act as if he never said it.  I know that I feel very uneasy being labeled "the enemy" of every hispanic in our country as well as being singled out by the very person who was elected!  Three more days... vote.. your freedom depends on it.

This President is constantly dividing, maybe in hopes of conquering. Kind of like a community organizer!
