Better Homes and Gardens Rand Realty has raised more than $37,000 for the American Cancer Society's Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk, making the brokerage one of the Hudson Valley's top

fundraising companies for the event. More than 100 of Rand Realty's agents participated in the walk on Oct. 17 (at several locations throughout the region), designed to honor breast cancer survivors, raise awareness about the disease and help save lives.

"We are proud to support the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk," said Matt Rand, managing partner of Better Homes and Gardens Rand Realty. "Our fundraising success and the high level of participation was a tremendous effort on the part of our agents and offices, and a true reflection of the spirit of the people that work with us. Our agents did all of the work and took the initiative to make a commitment to make a difference."

This is the first year that Better Homes and Gardens Rand Realty has participated in the walk. Sixteen of the company's offices formed corporate teams, and held a variety of fundraisers prior to the event to raise money for the cause. Rand Realty's Central Valley office was the company's top fundraising team, collecting almost $9,000 through a number of efforts, including a Doughraiser at Chicago Uno Grill (the restaurant donated 20 percent of the proceeds to Making Strides) and a yard sale. Some of Rand Realty's other top fundraising teams include:

· The Pearl River office, which raised more than $8,000 in a pre-event goods and services auction and a tag sale

· The Warwick office, which raised more than $4,500 through a number of outreach efforts and donations

· The Suffern office, which raised nearly $2,000 through a number of outreach efforts and donations

· The Stony Point office, which raised more than $1,700 through a number of outreach efforts and donations

· The Goshen office, which raised more than $1,700 through a tag sale and weekly 50/50 drawings at sales meetings

· The White Plains office, which raised almost $1,000 with a tag sale

· The Thornwood office, which raised more than $1,000 through a garage sale, 50/50 and donations

· The Dobbs Ferry office, which raised nearly $900 with a silent auction at the Dobbs Ferry Festa

Additionally, the company's Dutchess offices - in Poughkeepsie, Fishkill and Rhinebeck -- raised nearly $800 through raffling off gift coupons donated from local restaurants and shops, the Tuxedo office raised nearly $700 by selling raffles at the Tuxedo Family Fun Day, the Pine Bush office collected donations at the Pine Bush Harvest Fest, and the Nanuet office collected donations at an in-house auction. The Yonkers, Rye, Newburgh, New City and corporate offices also raised money for the cause through outreach efforts and donations.

No stranger to good corporate citizenship, Better Homes and Gardens Rand Realty, through its individual offices, supports a variety of causes and nonprofits annually. Most recently, its Briarcliff Manor office held a tag sale for the Briarcliff Library, raising $1,000 for the organization. Additionally, dozens of employees from the Fishkill, LaGrange and Rhinebeck offices took part in the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life at All-Sport in Poughkeepsie, raising money for the cause. Agents at Rand Realty's Rockland offices recently participated in the annual "Back to School With Dignity" school supplies drive that collects school supplies for children from low-income families.

Anthony - that's absolutely terrific!  I participated in the 3-Day walk last year and am planning to form an Elle Realty Team next year.  It was an amazing experience in my life and I know the cause is close to the heart for so many families...mine included!  Thank you for your group's efforts to help find a cure!
