The Genesis banana

http://www.missionvalleycondos.infoI'm taking off today, but I'm not telling you what I'm going to do or when I'm going to do it until afterwards, just in case the bad guys are reading this. Meanwhile, I thought I'd leave you with something interesting.

Anna There are a lot of people who have branded themselves in the ActiveRain community. One of them is Anna "Banana" Kruchten over in Phoenix. I can't help but think of her every time I walk into a grocery store and past the bananas in the produce section.

Bananatude! But did you know that some people believe that the forbidden fruit in the Garden of Eden was a banana, not an apple? Several biblical scholars apparently came to that conclusion (although I have no idea who they are), and apparently the Koran makes such an implication as well.

http://www.missionvalleycondos.infoYes, the banana is sexually suggestive, but perhaps more importantly, remember that Eve was a product of non-sexual reproduction since she came from a rib ripped out of Adam's side. Why is this important? Because banana plants are also created by non-sexual reproduction in that new plants are created from parts cut from mature plants.

http://www.missionvalleycondos.infoOther possibilities for the forbidden fruit include fig, citron, grapes, and carob. As with many things in the Bible, they are either taken out of context or made to fit specific periods of time. Nobody knows what was going through the minds of the writers of the books in the Bible, or, for that matter, the many people who interpreted and translated for later generations.

That’s very interesting insight about the possible biblical reference to a banana instead of an apple. I had not heard that before. Thanks, Jim!

Cute. Like the photo of the rotten bananas. Tomatoes were also considered a forbidden fruit and for many years believed poisonous.

Jim, Anniversary???  2 years?  Have a great time away!

I will always think of Anna and her group when I see a banana.  Interesting info about the "forbidden fruit"  makes you wonder about other things written a long time ago.

Thanks for stopping by, everyone.

I’m trying to catch up on old posts to see if anyone had a question or if there are some comments that need a response. If so, I’ll respond in a comment below this one.

Also remember that I return comment for comment, so I'll be by your blogs to read and comment soon. I'm exactly 30 days behind right now, but I usually catch up during Thanksgiving and Christmas, so you'll definitely hear from me soon.

And if you need a cat book for Christmas for that special cat person in your life — even yourself if you're your own special cat person in your life! — I can highly recommend “The Cat Lover’s Book of Days,” by our own ActiveRain Member Peg Silloway. It's a book that you can use year after year, and never get tired of, because there are no years in it, only days. It's great!
