Howloween at The Oregon Zoo

I was gearing up to go to the Oregon ZOO BOO this evening . . . the weather is NOT raining, clear skies, not too chilly.  When I Googled for Zoo Boo, nothing showed up.

This year they're hosting a Howloween at the Zoo, so all is not lost.

This year's events will begin Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 30-31 from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Perhaps there was too much stress on the animals -- SPOOKED THE ANIMALS -- having the little darlings run around all night long.  But the Zoo Boo was fun!

The Howloween at the Oregon Zoo will provide a fun and safe setting for this Halloween tradition. Trick-or-treaters can dress up -- which the little darlings love -- and they will be able to participate in all the exciting scavenger hunts, which will lead them to activity stations around the zoo.

FREE goodie bags filled with candy and prizes will be given out for completed hunts at the zoo's exit.

Throughout this Howloween at the Zoo weekend, visitors will also be able to see special "treats" given out to the animals -- pumpkins stuffed with snacks -- yummy:

Saturday, Oct. 30:
11:30 a.m. - Chimpanzees
12:30 p.m. - African wild dogs
1:30 p.m. - Asian elephants
2 p.m. - Polar bears
2:30 p.m. - Black bears

Sunday, Oct. 31:
10:30 a.m. - Amur tigers
11:30 p.m. - Sea otters
12:30 p.m. - African wild dogs
1:30 p.m. - Orangutans
2:00 p.m. - Black bears
2:30 p.m. - Asian elephants

Years ago, I did this with my daughter and my niece and nephews, at the Des Moines Zoo. We traveled there for a family visit. It was a great time. My daughter was about 5. The event was at night. My husband brought his gorilla mask, and he really fit right in.

Sounds like a fun treat for the kids and for the animals.
