9 Comments on WIN SOME...LOSE SOME and the frequent ...BREAK EVEN
Another thoughtful post. I take my meager $80 and leave when I win it...ha! It is painful to watch people caught up in the "pull" of slot machines. The quiet desperation of all the gamblers.... I don't go to casinos very often for the reasons you cover in your post. Greed is never pretty.
Richie....I enjoyed and appreciated reading this post.....greed will bring a successful person to his/her knees faster than any other factor....it's debilitating.....and it's all self inflicted....
Cara...dear lady...you added to the value of the post.....Your well thought out words paint the picture very well. I quote you "greed is never pretty".....yes, it is so.....high regards....
Barbara...my dear friend...your comment took the post to new heights....boy, the girls are batting a 1000 today. Your quote..."debilitating and self-inflicted" hits you in the guts.....well done and thank you...deep regards...
Richie, there's a casino less than 15 miles from where I'm sitting...I've often sat with Lucy in the sports bar looking down on the slot floor while we have a few adult beverages...It's amazing!..I love the title of this post...'Break Even' is the usual outcome when you look back on your ups and downs...Enjoy the day
I liked the term "greed is never pretty" too. I have been on a kick lately about "not giving until it hurts" which is the other side of the coin I guess. But, the reality is that many of us have more than we need and don't bother to give until it hurts to someone who has a need. Self reflection is often uncomfortable.

Richie: Casinos are so depressing for reasons like this! :( And yes, the psychology behind the guard is evident!
Richie, I don't gamble, think driving every day on the highways is enough for me! You did write a very thoughtful post!
Ernie...My Lucy and I have a few stories. I am glad no to boast here......Lot's to see when you watch people gambling. They don't know they are playing against their own ego. The machines are designed specifically to engage you and entertainment you while they clean you out. People don't know what hit them after-wards or what possessed them. There are more pawn shops in the seedy part of town than I have ever seen anywhere else.
Cindy in Indy is trendy.....your comment makes sense. Giving is an interesting thing. Is the giver giving from the heart, the mind or the emotions. Is it driven by compassion or guilt..? to people give to feel good or give because there is a need....Giving is one heck of a subject to explore and to learn about yourself....best to you Cindy
Jane...thank you for sharing your opinion.....for that type of money, you get a guard, fame, power and attention for as long as the money lasts......How sad it is my dear....
Joan...knows best and practices it. She never loses because she does not play....but gambles with her life on the freeways daily...good comment and thank you
