I have come to notice how some people prosper and some don't....the reasons for the disparity are numerous and personal. My observations center on how we all get a chance to "HAVE" whenever it comes. I remember getting good fortune and prospering (still do) and then losing many opportunities that are now just great stories....

I LOVE TO WIN...WHO DOESN'T..?

When I was prospering, its a good feeling and it promotes more good feelings. When I miss an opportunity, I now become aware of it and realize that it may be someone elses turn to prosper. I then become happy for that person. I move on

WE ALL TAKE AND HAVE TURNS.....TO SUCCEED AND PROSPER

Shares of prosperity make the rounds. I have seen money come and go and cannot remember my first nickel too well. I now know that there will be many more nickels to come because there always are....

TOO MUCH OF ANYTHING.....CHEAPENS LESSONS IT

I have seen where when a person always wins, how life can quickly become less. I remember going to Las Vegas, the gambling mecca of the world and watching an elderly woman play the slot machines at $5k a pull. For a full pull and.... to be eligible for the whole WIN amount, $10k is required.

SHE WAS ALONE, EARLY 70'S AND.. CLUTCHED HER PURSE TIGHT....

I watched her pump in and play at $10k a pop. So did everyone else. There was even a guard posted next to her so she wouldn't be disturbed. That's what got my attention. The crowd gathered around her. I asked someone how she was doing. They said just before I arrived, she hit $50k. I became more fascinated.

WE ARE ALL WATCHING HER WATCH THIS MACHINE and THEN EACH OTHER.....

She was fixated on this one arm bandit like if it dispensed food and water and like she was in need of them both. Nothing else existed for her as she played. As I watched, I was hoping she would win. Well she did....

WINNING AIN'T LOSING...or is it..?

Three somethings lined up and she won $100,000k dollars. The win makes her stop playing so it can be verified and then paid out. Her Adrenaline was charging through her body. You could see it. She was in Euphoria and unable to look anyone in the eye. Her joy was held inward, but bursting through her pores. She just stood there with a tense grin... next to the machine, like if they were joined at the hip.

ONE ARM HELD THE PURSE AND THE OTHER ARM PULLED THE SLOT HANDLE

They paid her out and..... once again she assumes the position of pull and play. This is where I came in just a few moments ago. I asked the guy next to me as to why she would keep playing. I mean she just took down $150k in 15 minutes time. It is costing her $10k a pull to play. 15 pulls from now, that $150k could be gone in a heartbeat. Doesn't she know that...?

I WANTED TO SCREAM OUT...LADY LEAVE...LEAVE NOW

It dawned on me that the guard next to her served two purposes. To keep people from bothering her and to keep her from thinking about leaving (in a sense) becasue she felt important. I wondered what the point of it all was..? To win..? To play..? To lose..? To break even..? When do you say to yourself.....I have had enough...?

You prosper and then you move on. Others prosper too. Dont' become greedy, but do become aware that there is enough for everyone many times over. Your share awaits and awaits....Are you ready for it?

Another thoughtful post.  I take my meager $80 and leave when I win it...ha!  It is painful to watch people caught up in the "pull" of slot machines.  The quiet desperation of all the gamblers....  I don't go to casinos very often for the reasons you cover in your post.  Greed is never pretty.

Richie....I enjoyed and appreciated reading this post.....greed will bring a successful person to his/her knees faster than any other factor....it's debilitating.....and it's all self inflicted....

Richie, there's a casino less than 15 miles from where I'm sitting...I've often sat with Lucy in the sports bar looking down on the slot floor while we have a few adult beverages...It's amazing!..I love the title of this post...'Break Even' is the usual outcome when you look back on your ups and downs...Enjoy the day

I liked the term "greed is never pretty" too.  I have been on a kick lately about "not giving until it hurts" which is the other side of the coin I guess.  But, the reality is that many of us have more than we need and don't bother to give until it hurts to someone who has a need.  Self reflection is often uncomfortable.

Richie:  Casinos are so depressing for reasons like this!  :(  And yes, the psychology behind the guard is evident!

Ernie...My Lucy and I have a few stories. I am glad no to boast here......Lot's to see when you watch people gambling. They don't know they are playing against their own ego. The machines are designed specifically to engage you and entertainment you while they clean you out. People don't know what hit them after-wards or what possessed them. There are more pawn shops in the seedy part of town than I have ever seen anywhere else.

Cindy in Indy is trendy.....your comment makes sense. Giving is an interesting thing. Is the giver giving from the heart, the mind or the emotions. Is it driven by compassion or guilt..? to people give to feel good or give because there is a need....Giving is one heck of a subject to explore and to learn about yourself....best to you Cindy

Jane...thank you for sharing your opinion.....for that type of money, you get a guard, fame, power and attention for as long as the money lasts......How sad it is my dear....

Joan...knows best and practices it. She never loses because she does not play....but gambles with her life on the freeways daily...good comment and thank you
