RainCamp Charlotte, 2010!
I just attended my first RainCamp, and I was just blown away by the experience! I think I've been complaining toActiveRain for a year now, begging the powers that be to bring the RainStorm to Charlotte, NC! It was certainly worth the wait!
Many, many thanks to the wonderful ActiveRain team for organizing this event, and to our own Charlotte Queen of ActiveRain, Debe Maxwell! I felt like I was meeting rock stars! I got to meet Active Bob (Stewart) and Kerrie Greenhalgh of ActiveRain, and listen to a wonderful presentation by Ben Kinney and Bob Stewart on how to take our real estate businesses to the next level in this Internet age.
Beginning with a video featuring Art Williams encouraging his audience to just "Do It," Ben gave us an overview of the incredible growth of social media in our culture, and how we must embrace this new communication platform or risk extinction. He gave us all mega amounts of ideas and strategies that we can implement in our businesses today.
Bob gave a great overview of blogging basics and advanced tips to help our blog posts gain more traction with search engines. I thought I knew a lot about this stuff, but at the end of the day, my brain was just brimming with new ideas from RainCamp that I can't wait to implement!
But for me, one of the most exciting aspects of RainCamp was getting to meet all my "virtual friends" in person. These are folks who I have admired for a long time through their never-ending blogs full of information, advice, humor and creativity. At the pre-party the night before at Strike City (thank you for planning, Debe!) the first person I saw was Nevin Williams - Mr. Mortgage Broker! I turned and recognized Craig Rutman, the King of PhotoShop and hilarious blogs! I turned again and saw Claude and Jane Cross of Charlotte, who built their own website from the ground up. A little while later, I got to meet fellow Rainers who traveled a long way to be here - Thom Abbot from Atlantla, Steve Shatsky from Dallas, and even Christine Donovan from California. Another turn, and I see Jeremy Blanton of 210 Consulting. I met new people, including Amy Shair and Pam St. Peter from the Raleigh area, and Melissa McKinney from Fayetteville. Geez Louise! What an awesome group of people!
I feel blessed to be a part of this incredible community to warm, friendly, intelligent and successful people! I am determined to take advantage of all that ActiveRain has to offer, and will re-double my efforts to post relevant blogs for consumers and for my many friends at ActiveRain. You have all taught me SO MUCH, and I am thankful from the bottom of my heart!
If you haven't been to RainCamp yet, you are really missing out! It is worth EVERY PENNY!
