Rhinebeck is a town with with history

Some weeks ago I listed a stone house built in 1706 in the town of Rhinebeck.  if you travel through Rhinebeck NY you will  also find other old homes with rich history.

The house below is part of the walking tour in the Village of Rhinebeck.  It was the home of General Richard Montgomery who was put in charge of the Northern forces in 1775.

Poor General Montgomery.  He should have known better than to take on the Quebecois.  I must say Montreal is a beautiful city to capture.  Well in photos anyway.

How is your historic listing going Jennifer?

Jenny  children visited Montreal just a few weeks ago,  and they had a great time.

The stone house is still for sale.  Thought I had it sold a week ago but you know how the market is.

Howdy and morning to you Jennifer

Jennifer, after moving up in this here part of our Country, and getting into doing reenacting of the 1700's. I sure have gotten to learn a lot more about that took place during it. I sure have been having a lot of fun, as I learn the rich History of the area. I sure do like the look of this Historic home. Thank you mighty kindly for helping me learn another thing about the 1700's.

Have a good one

Hi Jennifer, I had to laugh at Jenny's comment. :-)  I love the fact that communities and towns take on historical preservation so that buildings stand and markers provide us with a little bit of a history lesson wherever we go!

I bet that is an incredible walking tour, Jennifer, and I'd love to be able to do it one day.  I love the historic markers that dot the towns such as Rhinebeck - what great charm, culture and history!

Jennifer the house in that time period were great houses.  We have several of them in the town next to mine, and I never get tired of looking at them.

Hi Jennifer,

How interesting to list a home of a Revolutionary War general whom I taught about in my US History classes.  How great is that!  He was a brave and resolute general, and what a great link to include with your post!

His invasion route was very close to where we once lived briefly in Quebec.

If you ever get a chance to list the home of General Horatio Gates TURN IT DOWN!  He was a snake!

Steve It is always such fun visiting a historical site.  I often try to visualize what life was like.

Mary I like that too.  The markers usually are a starting point for further research.

Leesa there are some interesting places to see.  I actually listed and sold the building on the walking tour that was the first hospital in Rhinebeck.

Hannah it is my pleasure.
