Sometimes it really is true... that a picture is worth a thousand words. Some other times... especially if you were unfortunate enough to be within earshot of Mr Jerry Jones... owner of the Dallas Cowboys... and were NOT able to be wearing a pair of industrial-strength earplugs... the picture below may have been worth several thousand very loud and unprintable words... uttered by the Cowboy's owner.
Today... the poor, dear Cowboys got blasted again. The final score was 35 to 17. The game, and the lambasting the Cowboys received, was unfortunately much worse than that. They were absolutely man-handled.
Mr Jones' boys... affectionately referred to as "Da Boys" by their fans... sat dejectedly... as if almost in a trance. So did many fans, as can be seen by the pictured-below "fan in the stands"... who chose to be anonymous.
It is unusual for any football fan to be "lukewarm" regarding the Cowboys. It's not quite like the "love 'em or hate 'em" New York Yankees... but it's surely in that "ballpark."
I really feel badly for the Cowboys players. Growing up, and always "hating those dratted Yankees"... I could always pick at least ONE of them... those Yankees... who I felt I "hated." That's the way it was... growing up in Cleveland. But, with the Cowboys... it is different.
I cannot think of even one of "da Boys" that anyone "hates." Any player who may have fallen into that category has been "shown the door" and been either traded or thrown overboard by the Cowboys and Mr Jones. What that has left the Cowboys with... is a locker room that is pretty-much devoid of any of those "trouble-makers" and "rabble-rousers from years past. The locker-room is fairly close to being "plain vanilla" now. Unfortunately, so is the team. No "crazies" left. No "trouble-makers."
At least, that is part of my take on the team, and also part of the "take" of many of the Dallas-ites and Fort Worthians... and Arlingtines... who have for years followed the Cowboys... and lived and died with them.
I guess things weren't all that bad when Da Boys had Jessica Simpson in the stands rooting for them. When that was going on... there were those who made fun of Jessica and Tony. There were also those who thought focusing on her was kinda silly, and also thought that "things could always be worse... ." Well... things are worse.
Luckily... all is not lost for the Dallas/Fort Worth sports fans. At least we have our Rangers. They came through last night here in Arlington... and beat the San Francisco Giants in Game Three. Game Four starts in a few hours... right across the parking lot from Cowboy Stadium... in the beautiful "Ballpark in Arlington" where the Texas Rangers play. What more can a DFW sports fan say... but...
Go Rangers !
