PAY IT FORWARD ACTIVE RAIN, PAY IT FORWARD!
We enjoyed the movie 'Pay It Forward', have always believed in the meaning of paying it forward and just like to do it plain and simple. When you do pay it forward we think you really are the benefactor.
Hearing this you can probably understand how excited and surprised we were to hear there is a site that you can go to and actually help encourage paying it forward! It operates on donations and works because of people like you and us. People who are trying to do 'random acts of kindness' and encourage others do the same.
This is how the site explains it: "You, your company, your community, your family & friends can make the world a better place with a simple PAY IT FORWARD bracelet. Contact us at pif@payitforwardtoday.org and we'll set you up with some, free". And they do! We ordered some and have been doing our best to show random acts of kindness and when the person says "thank you", we give them a bracelet that encourages them to show a random act of kindness too! Simple.
It's pretty powerful, to date they have sent out over 800,000 bracelets to people in 58 countries, can you believe it? No marketing, no advertising, just people paying it forward everyday & spreading the word. We just wanted to spread the word a little further and since the group here on Active Rain is just a giving group we knew you all would be interested.
We don't know much else except that this fellow Charley Johnson seems to head the operation and is doing a wonderful job of it. We just received an email from Charley stating that he has been asked to visit schools and companies to give speeches and presentations on Paying It Forward, but just can not make many of the trips and so he has set up free video conferences on Skype now too. Now that is paying it forward!
