Moving to a new home........... Thought Provoker

Thought Provoker prompted by someone that shared with me a recent move was difficult. Here is a Checklist to help when you plan on making a move to The Texas Hill Country. Hopefully this will help to make a smooth transition. By the way don't forget to have your home inspected by a professiona home inspector.

· Send change of address cards to the post office. You can ask your mail person or get from the post    office.

· Notify all your accounts and credit card companies.

· Friends and relatives

· Moving Company (this is where this couple ran into trouble, the movers under-estimated the load and charged way more then they were originally told).

· Make arrangements with your telephone company (GVTC will forward your yearly rebate to your new address).

· Water, Electric, Gas, Cable, TV

· Don't forget to arrange all utilities to be turned on at your new residence on a certain date. (you don't want surprises on the other end and have to wait for the utilities to be turned on)

· Transfer bank accounts to your new address and have your checks printed with your new address. Don't forget if you have a safety deposit box to get your personal items out and close the account).

· Medical Records - Physicians, DDS, (Vet-don't forget doggie paperwork). It is recommended to have your prescriptions filled before you leave. This will give your insurance company time to transfer all your information. Transfer your prescriptions to your new pharmacy.

· Immediately find yourself new physician, sometimes you may have to be put on a waiting list.

· Transfer records from your current school to your child's new school. Be sure you have birth certificate and legal papers all in one folder.

• Be sure to have your personal automobiles serviced before you hit the road.
