They say, "if you are lucky enough to own a place at the lake, you are lucky enough".  But, there are many times when homeowners are not taking full advantage of their most valuable asset, the lake itself.  If you do own lake front property how often do you go swimming?  When I say swimming, I don't mean a quick dip.  I mean take a SWIM!  Take a half mile or mile swim or longer.  When we first got our place at the lake my idea of a swim was to swim out for 200 feet, turn around and swim back in barely able to breath and then float around a little.

About 2 years ago I was introduced to Total Immersion Swimming.  The is a swimming technique that has absolutely changed my life and enjoyment of our lake.  It is nothing for me to go for a one mile swim and end the swim refreshed, relaxed and yes, rested.  That is, my pulse rate is low and recovery takes about 2 minutes.

There are a number of books and DVD's on the technique but I would strongly recommend a coach and a pool to help you learn the technique.  There is nothing complicated about it but it does take practice and careful attention to detail.  A good coach will be well worth the expense.  Once you get the hang of it I guarantee, you will love it.
