Upcoming Events and Festivals in Olathe Kansas

Now that September is here, Olathe Kansas will be providing a number of events that bring back the "Old West" to the history of our Olathe community.

Old Settler's Days as it is called will be held this Thursday, Friday and Saturday, September 6th to 8th here in Olathe Kansas.  The 109th celebration goes back to 1898 when politicians would stand up and orate about their platform.  Today, Olathe provides a festival that fills downtown Olathe with nationally recognized musical entertainment, carnival rides, a parade, antique auto show, arts & crafts and a day of history for those who want to learn more about the foundation of Olathe, Kansas.

Bushwacker DaysWild West Show & Bullwhacker Days begins on September 22nd and 23rd Saturday from 10 to 4pm and Sunday from 11 to 4pm.  Performers will reenact the events of Buffalo Bill, Annie Oakley, and other Wild West shows with trick riders and cowboy recreating the Wild West shows of the late 1800's.  There will be two daily shows and other activities celebrating the west in fact and fiction and the heritage of the western trails.

Activities and music plus living history demonstrations, including panning for real gold, and an array of fun activities for the young at heart will be provided. Admission is $5 for adults; and $3 for children ages 5-11. Children under 5 admitted free. Seating for the arena shows at 12:00 and 3:00 opens 45 minutes prior to show start.

Mahaffie Stagecoach Stop and Farm Historic Site - we also can not forget the Mahaffie Stagecoach Stop and Farm house which provides a rich history of Olathe's beginnings back in 1857 with the Santa Fe and Oregon Trails meeting here in Olathe.  Another post about Mahaffie can be viewed here.

Things to do, events to celebrate and history to learn more about are here in Olathe, Kansas.
