How do you find the cream of the crop when it comes to agents? Activerain of course!
I admire Todd Clark for actually going back through his files to discover how many agents he did business with a few years ago are still active. It's interesting to see the percentages. I know in California, the number of agents is actually decreasing according to the Dept. of RE. Yet I see on AR that our numbers here are increasing - 195,044 as of today - and as Todd shows below, most are still active.
How do I know this? Look around your office, think back to December 2008, how many of those agents do you still see in the office? Or better yet, how many of those agents are still even in the business? Would you say 75% of them are still at your office or are still in the business? If I could count the number of agents I met in December 2008, I certainly wouldn’t expect to see 75% of them still in the business. The fact is, I did check and of the ones from 2008, only 43% of the agents I did transactions with or put in my data base in 2008 are still on our MLS roster. That is one scary number, but it could be the offices I was with, it could be many of them were newer agents. But no matter what the number was, 75% of them aren’t still around.
But, what about the agents here on Activerain, do we still have 75% of the agents we had in December 2008? Do we have the cream of the crop here? The reason I asked is because I was searching on Google for marketing tips for a class I was going to be teaching and I just wanted to show a sample of all the free marketing tools for agents out there for agents when I came across, “100 Marketing Tips for Success” by Elizabeth Ward Small and that is when I decided to take a look at the almost 100 agents that commented on her post and what I found didn’t really surprise me, but more proved a point that the greatest agents are right here in the rain.
You see, what I did was clicked on every one of those agents that read her post, and it was a great post, but were these agents just commenting or where they learning and improving themselves? Only time would tell on that one. After looking at everyone’s blogs, I found that 75% of them were still active here in the rain. (At least posting something within the last 4 months) That really told me something, the agents here in the rain are doing more than just advertising, they are giving information to each other to help each other stay at the top of their games and keep them in the business.
The lesson here is read the posts, learn from the posts, and make yourself a better agent. Heck, if you have information to share and help your fellow agents stay in the business as well, we are here to listen… there is plenty of business to go around. I am proud to be part of this community because I know it really is the cream of the crop!
