Jerry brown and what it means for the real estate community - prop 13 and predictions

Jerry brown defeated Meg Whitman in yesterdays election. Jerry brown held office over a decade ago and has held numerous other political offices. Ebay CEO Meg Whitman reportedly spent over 140 million of her own dollars to fund her campaign and had never run for office before. Brown plans to cut spending and uneccessary programs in California. As attorney general he has also been behind several programs and investigations of fraudalent real estate agents and offices. He has shut down various operations for predatory lending, mortgage fraud and other similar activities.

I am curious to see how the active rain community feels about his election. What are everyones predictions to how his policies will effect the real estate market? Is prop 13 in any danger of being repealed?

Michael - I made the mistake of voting for Jerry back in the 80's so I was not going to make that same mistake again.  Rest assured, I didn't vote for Meg either who, as far as I am concerned, is just the "Governator" in a skirt.

Like every other single politician in office right now, Jerry is beholden to a host of special interest groups who have delivered the Governorship to him (if you think it was the voters, you're delusional).  For every politician in office, their true constituents are the special interest groups who put them in office and not the voters.  So like every other politician, Jerry will be working to serve his true constituents - the special interest groups who put him in office.

If I sound disillusioned and disenfranchised, I am because as far as I am concerned, casting a vote for either candidate would have been a vote for the lesser of two evils.  I've never voted like that and I don't intend to start now at this point in my life.  For the record, this was the same reason I didn't cast a vote in the last presidential election.

BTW:  I have been a die-hard, liberal, registered Democrat my entire adult life but have been losing my faith, trust and respect for my party for the past two years and am now questioning my continued devotion to the party.  Anyway, sorry for the long comment but I don't usually get all political in my posts or here on AR period but your question just kind of hit a nerve with me.  Who knows, I may even decide to delete this comment later.  I don't know.  Have a good day Micheal.  :)

Prop 13 is well written. It has stood the test of time.   Prop 13 should not be  altered one bit. It protects property owners and our local economy.
