November 3, 2010...the Anderson Family informed the nation that
" ...has been placed in the care of hospice at his home" --Thousand Oaks, CA.
Though your light has dimmed at this time in your life. Do know that your "Spark" for life will never falter.
You brought your style of managing to many fans & players alike.
Both Ohio & Michigan, neighboring States witnessed your abilities up close & personal.
Your journey is moving on toward another 'dug-out', another 'team' , another state of existence, but the flame that you began here on earth will burn brightly. The Foundation CATCH you began in 1987 continues to improve and "Brighten" the quality of life for the pediatric patients at Children's Hospital and Henry Ford Hospital.
At Comerica Park in 2009, you gathered with the 1984 Detroit Tiger Team and noted: "Think about this now, there will be four or five of these guys together again, maybe, but never all together again. "
he went on to speak the now prophetic words..." I'm 75, I know I ain't going to make it." [the Detroit News /
article by Tom Gage--as seen on Yahoo News]
You will join many friends when you take that glorious "walk onto that great field". Say HI to Ernie for all of us here in Detroit, Michigan. Safe and happy trip, Sparky. Light up that New Field of Play when you are "hired".
Your fans from Michigan, Ohio, & the nation
