Is it better to have many blog "Meta Tags" or very few?

By

How should I enter my blog tags for search results???

I can't figure out whether it is better for search results to have many different Meta Tags on my blogs or just focus on the same words over and over again.

I figured out there are about 20 words that can be posted. I could post those same words over and over  again, or diversify.

What are your thoughts??

Also, do you have any experience or research that may be helpful??

I hope your enjoying your Wednesday!!!

clear, concise, different tags have worked best for me, I try to use about 10 or so per entry

I'm not sure about repeating effecting SEO (I believe that is your focus) but I do not think repeated helps.  I forget where it is, but do a search on tags here on AR, someone had an excellent post that explained how they worked and how to get the most from them.  One thing I remember, as many, very short, words that pertained to whatever your blog is about.

Less than 10 is better. The fewer you have the less watered down the ones you do have will become.

Where on AR can I go to find out what in the world you guys are talking about.  I feel like Jessica Simpson in the HDTV commercial:

"I don't know what it is, but I want one."

HELP and Thanks!

Nick, Your tags need to be relevant to the post you are tagging. Less and precise is best. For example, this post could have: meta tags, search results.

The ones you are using have nothing to do with this post. If they are not relevant to the post Google will know and it will harm you.

Nick -Bryant hit the nail on the head. You do not want to have that many tags and it will water down the effectiveness with google. In regards to your question above...... less than 10 repeated or 10 new ones? You always want to make your tags relavent to the post and less is better. Karen Geoge wrote the recent tag post that was excellent.
