Pay it Forward: My good deed for yesterday

Arriving home after a long day of showing property, I pulled into my driveway and noticed a few people standing around someone lying on the street.   I approached the group and found out that the older lady involved had been walking her dog, tripped, and done a complete face plant.  Her nose was bloody and looked like it was broken and she had a huge lump on her head.  Someone was handing her a wet towel and I asked if anyone had called 911, and it turned out no one had done so because the lady had refused the help.  I started talking to the old lady who was quite lucid, and told her we should call 911 and get her to the hospital because her face was banged up and she eventually acquiesced.  Then I asked her if there was anyone I could call, and she said she didn't want to bother her daughter, but she gave me her daughter's number so I was able to contact her to let her know what happened and to tell her I'd take the dog home.  The paramedics arrived within minutes and whisked the old lady off to the hospital and I went home with Phoebe, the spaniel.  The woman's daughter arrived at my home within an hour, took the dog and went to check on her mother.  I haven't heard how she is doing yet but I'm glad I was around to help, because who knows what would have happened had she been allowed to go home without medical attention?

Nice work and way to care for your neighborhood. More people need to get involved, and help others. I live by this way of doing things.

Rose:  Good for you on insisting to call an ambulance, now to find out she has a broken neck.  The poor soul, I hope she gets well and you see her with her friend (the dog) walking in your neighborhood again.  Cheers!
