Hi Doretha,
Was that a joke or a true story?
Anyway, it was funny!
Thanks
Phil
Hi Phil,
I came across this little nugget when I was reading a marketing book some time ago. I don't know how true it is, but definitely was a clever idea. I think the point is that we have to be flexible, creative and think outside of the box sometimes.
Great marketing concept to at least get the people thinking about the sign. Yes, Doretha that's thinking out of the box.
considering he was boxed in by these 2 competiotrs it seems he was thinking inside the box. Quite crafty
Clever fellow.
True story. In the good old days there were a lot more independent businesses. They all used trucking companies to carry their merchandise to them from vendors. The stores would get to choose their freight company themselves. A large number of buyers, too lazy or too busy, to look up the least expensive company, would simply write the phrase "best way" in the box to designate the carrier.
One very smart trucking firm soon came up with the name "Best Way Trucking". Guess who did a lot of business?
Good Morning Doretha, thanks for the smile to start Friday with!
Hey this belongs in a couple of the AR Comedy/Jokes Groups !!!!!!!!!!!!!
That is a great axample of positioning! I love it.

Love it! Definitely recognizing that location is everything!
Very clever, I love It!
That's what we have to do...think outside of the box.
lol
All the more reason to keep assessing the market and positioning to win as the variables keep changing. Great story.
Happy New Year From Boise, Idaho!
That is great. Like everyone said "think outside the box"
As I read this it got me to thinking that competetion can be a good thing. We need to remind ourselves to be fresh in our marketing. Looking forward to that in 2011.
I love that story. You made my day.
