Drum Hike For Our Heros

What would you say if I told you that, at this very moment, an Iraqi War veteran is walking across America to raise money for his fellow soldiers and their families?

What would you say if I told you he started his journey this past APril in Kentucky and is currently in California?

Meet Troy Yokum and he is doing just that - with the help of his wife, Mareike, chihuahua Harley and Emmie the Wonder Dog - and thousands of people who have joined his journey in each of the cities he's traveled to.  He's walked the bases at major ballparks around the country, had police escorts down the strip in Las Vegas, met with local and state leaders to ask for their help in supporting our military.  He's walked through the heartland of our country in the heat of the summer, climbed mountains and has, so far, handed donations to 4 military families.  He's been carrying baseball bats with him and getting signatures from mayors, governors and others on these bats in hopes of getting support for a National Day of the Deployed Soldier.

All to raise $5 million for our soldiers.  Can you imagine walking 7,000 miles?  My hat is off to him.

What I'd like for you to do when you have a moment is stop by his website and learn more about his incredible journey.  Check the map and see where he is heading next.  I'm looking forward to his trek through my area in late December.

You can follow him on Facebook, Twitter, and visit his You Tube channel to catch up on where he's been.
