My daughter Hannah is a senior in high school. For the past 12 years Hannah has played club soccer and our fall calendar has revolved around her soccer practices and matches. This fall, not so much. Hannah had a nasty foot fracture (called a Jones fracture) that required surgery over the summer. A pin was inserted in her foot and she hobbled around in crutches and a boot for many weeks. Because of the timing, Hannah could not play club soccer this fall.
We were surprised early in the fall when Hannah walked in the door and announced that she had tried out for the school play, Romeo and Juliet. To our surprise, and I suspect to Hannah's surprise also, she was selected to perform a minor part in the play.
Theater is somewhat competitive at Hannah's school and we amazed she had tried out and further amazed she had been rewarded with a part. We attended a performance Thursday evening and proudly watched her in the role of a Capulet servant.
Definitely a situation where when life deals you lemons you turn them in to lemonade.
