Temple Theater in Sanford NC

A new season for our local Temple Theater has started with a production of Hank and My Honky Tonk Heroes starring Jason Petty.

According to the NY Post, "At times it seems as if Petty is not just offering an impersonation of Williams, but channeling his ghost." This production features music from the beginnings of country music featuring songs by Hank Williams, George Jones, Jimmy Rodgers, and many more.

This show plays throughout September with performances at 2 and 7 pm on Thursdays, 8 pm Fridays, 8 pm Saturdays, and 2 pm on Sundays.

Rita, it looks like a fun September for Sanford!  I agree with Paula I love the picture at the top!!  You guys will have to post your fall pictures because we don't get a fall.  I was thinking about that today.  Our leaves fall around December and they really don't ever get pretty.  I loved the change of the seasons in North Carolina.  God's artistry at work!

Paula,

The picture at top is from Raven Rock State Park.  They said on the news today it has been so dry we may not get much fall color this year.  Wish us some rain so I can take some pictures!

Marchel,

We normally have a very colorful fall but it has been incredibly dry this year for us.

Lynda,

We have some great local parks around here.  I still have a bunch more of them to blog about!

I have always liked bluegrass. When I was working a 40 hour week job. Yes, I have not always been a Realtor, but we had a gentleman who would bring in his banjo and play at lunch time in the summer. It is soothing music.

Katerina,

The parks are even more enjoyable once the heat of summer dies down a bit.

Thesa,

Thank you for stopping by.

Susan,

Sounds like an entertaining lunch for sure.

Teri,

There is a lot to do at our local parks and most of it is free, which is great.

Stephanie,

Lee County has a lot of rural beauty left - I hope we can keep that feel as our area grows.

Mana,

I probably won't make this one but there are some other plays this season that I do plan to attend.

Leah,

We get quite a few golf tourists that come down to play Tobacco Road in Lee County, and Pinehurst, Pine Needles, and all the great courses in Moore county just south of us.

Jack,

Thank you for stopping by my blog.

Chris,

Fall is a nice time of year in our area.  October has a lot of great activities - I am already trying to decide what to write about next month.

Susie,

The view from that overlook is great - you have to spend a few minutes to take it in.  We have a bunch to do around here in the fall.  I hope to write about the corn maze out at Gross Farms in the next week or so.

Katerina,

It gets into the mid 90s most days in August.  Our humidity is normally a bit lower than in the deep south though.  This August was an exception - hottest month ever here.  We had a bunch of days over 100 which is really unusual for this part of NC.  We haven't had a good rain in a while but the forecast is calling for rain this week.

Hey Rita,

You definately make Sanford shine. I put on many plays at the Temple Theatre from the age of 10 to high school. Thanks for memory lane. Again.

Rebecca,

I like how Temple theater uses both professional actors and local talent.  I was surprised that a town the size of Sanford had a professional theater when we moved here.  We went to "The Sound of Music" last season and it was great.  Had to quiet my daughter down because she wanted to sing along with the play.
