Cheshire's Lights of Hope - 2010

Cheshire's Lights of Hope - Tonight was the annual Cheshire Lights of Hope, and many luminaries lined the streets of town.  A full mile of luminaries on both side of Route 10 was an impressive sight along with a beautiful display at the Cheshire Acadamy and the First Congregational Church.

Cheshire's Lights of Hope mission is to unite as a community by lighting up our town in hope of a better world.  It was established in 2005 to encourage our community to have hope in the midst of the darkness that often seems more prevalent in our world.

I hope that all who experienced tonight's wonderful display will come a way with a little more kindness in their hearts

Very nice display. It reminds me somewhat of the luminarias that line the track at the middle school in out town on the night of Relay for Life where people can purchase the luminarias and decorate them in memory or in honor of those with cancer. Th ebags are very simple and inexpensive but when put together make quite an impact.

They do indeed make a very big impact when they are put together, JoAnn!

What a gorgeous scene, Chris!  There is something magical about the appearance of luminaries.  I remember a special Christmas, that a church near my home placed an abundance of them on the lawns for midnight mass.  Coupled with the music coming from within, it was an astounding sight.

Hi Myrl - I agree, it is a magical sight.  Let's hope it has a magical affect on people!

Luminaries are so peaceful.  My neighborhood puts them out in the month of December.  I first saw them in New Mexico as a child.  They never lose their magical beauty.

Great night shots Chris. I need to work on this technique. I have a tripod and camera remote for the longer exposures but have not really experimented much. With Christmas lights coming around again I need to develop this skill set.

I thought I wrote back on some of these last comments--sorry!

Hi Pat - They are peaceful.  I will look forward to seeing pictures of the luminaries in your neighborhood in December!

Hi Debi - It was a beautiful sight--I am pleased that the photos came out as well as they did!

Hi Steve and Jan - I don't have much experience with night shots either, and I don't have a tripod.  I just stood very still and took the photos.  : )
