by Cory Potter, Sales Manager & Corporate Trainer

I recently heard that over 40,000 in the mortgage industry have lost their jobs in 2007.  While it is probably best for some people to leave a given profession at any given time, this post serves the purpose of paying some respect to the great real estate industry employees who deserved a job:

  • those casualties of offices that have closed
  • those who were laid-off based on down-sizing for the market
  • those who were just beginning as the market turned
  • those with over ten years of experience who were told they were done without a notice

Yes, I am a mortgage professional and am thinking mostly of the experienced, unsuspecting, deserving individuals who have recently found themselves scrambling for a job.  Many that I personally know have recently seen fates like those mentioned above.  It reminds me of the airline industry after the Sept. 11 attacks.  There, too, many experienced, unsuspecting, deserving individuals were unemployed.

AND THE POINT.....Remember those that you know who fall into these categories, reach out and try to help them land on their feet.  Be the 'master networker' that can help them find employment.

If you know of a Loan Officer in this area (Orlando) who is seeking employment and needs a solid company like Fidelity Mortgage Services to originate for, have them contact me immediately!  Be sure to add me to your associates or bookmark this post so you can find me again!

Cory,

We have an in house lender. Or at least a preferred lender. They have lost 3 of the 8 this year. The remaining 5 have each carved a niche and will likely remain. I wish them all well.

Cory,

You're absolutely right!  There were so many that found themselves with out a position that were amazing people. We feel their loss and talk in hushed tones on this subject, careful to tread lightly.  While a correction was in order, such a hard swing is shocking and sad.

Warm Regards,
