Are you following the rules for properly crediting the photos used in your blog? If you use all your own original content then you are in the clear. But for many bloggers, using other people's photographic talents not only dresses up their blog but saves them time. The problem is that if you happen to improperly credit your photos you could open yourself up to some serious legal headaches.
Searching for the perfect photo is time consuming enough. Add to that the extra steps of reviewing the Creative Commons license info and conditions of use, and you can end up burning quite a bit of daylight.
Enter Wylio.com.
At Wylio.com you can find and insert free photos for your blog in 3 steps and they do all the dirty work of properly crediting the photo for you. All you really need to know how to do is copy and paste. So, what are the 3 steps to start using free photos for your blog?
1. Go to Wylio.com to search the database of over 160 million photos available for use on Flickr.
2. Choose the alignment for your photo (left, right, or center) and resize the photo (their resize tool is extremely easy to use).
3. Copy and few lines of HTML code and paste it in the HTML editor of your blog post.
That's all. Wylio does the hard work for you of checking the photo license and properly attributing the work to the original publisher. And the end result? A great photo with proper attribution, and a noticeable absence of stress.

Thanks I am always looking for photos.....
This is great info - thanks for the info - I will check out the site.
Thats a great reference site for everyone on here, Mike. It's so easy to snag the net and tap into places we probably shouldn't if we want to play by the rules. Cheeers.
Thanks for the great info on photo and websites. Best Regards,
Don't search for time consuming photos. Shoot your own. Have 1200 on Flickr and videos you shoot, edit, upload that are full motion, with audio you do not hire out is like 30 pictures per second. That's a lot of photos to go with the copy, your smiling mug as the local expert helping folks tour the place you call home. Your real estate buyer is not just local anymore. Snap the shots, upload them, sprinkle them through out the blog posts you hammer out, paint.
@Andrew - I am with you 100% on using your own photos. I think original content is always your best bet. But for some folks, photography just isn't their thing. Tools like this make it easy for those people to still get their content out there and dresses up their post with a photo that they may have never been able to create on their own.
Just took a look at the site.
One BIG caveat in their fine print/TOS --> "We don't guarantee the validity of the licenses since we can't control what people decide to upload to Flickr."
Take your own pictures is the safest route to go.
Mel
I saw that in their TOS also, Mel. I would steer clear of using any images that depict a major brand logo, but for most pictures I think Flickr is pretty reliable for proper licensing. But you are right, taking your own pictures is always the best way. Thanks for reading!
Thank you so much for this tip!
Thank you for the info! I'll check out the site.
