Hello again,

I'm about 3/4 of the way through my GRI.  I'd love to hear some practical reasons from other GRI folks about how they have used the GRI designation to benefit their business.  I love the classes, and always feel pumped up and enthusiastic after I leave, but want to consider the practical implications of this course of study.  How do you talk with clients about your investment in this program?

Maggie

Many of my clients read about my designations on the internet before they speak to me.  The GRI tells them that you have had training in a well rounded way.  For me it was an endurance test.  :)

GRI provides you with a very thorough recap of the basics. One big advantage is the GRI is a designation you can earn without demonstrating a past sales record (like the CRS or ABR).  As a broker, the GRI is the first designation I recommend for any new agent in my office.

Any education related to improving your knowledge of the industry is priceless! It gives you a leg up on the average ho-hummer licensee.  You'll exude confidence in all of your presentations and dealings with consumers.  I think it's so valuable and the GRI designation is pretty much the foundation of all continuing education and future designations.

I just got my RSPS and I met so many agents that are now in my referral network, because I know we're on the same page as far as customer service!  Totally hang in there!!!!! (I'm originally from San Fernando Valley girl area:) Sorry, I can't help it!

Maggie, I have my GRI, but consumers don't have a clue what it means. In my email signature I put it like this:

 Missy Caulk

GRI, Graduate Real Estate Institute

Then I tell them, if they ask it is like a graduate school degree. With 90 hours it is !

Maggie, in addition to it being great for all the reasons you and the others cite, I would add that GRI course class hours (96hrs) can count toward Broker pre-licensing classtime requirements which is 150 hours in my State.
