This week it's "good news, bad news" for active Whittier home listings .. overall (Whittier Homes and Condos), there is no big difference in the amount of active listings: 467, compared to last week's 468*. Also no big changes looking at the overall number of active Whittier Condos (51, down from last week's 57), or even Whittier Homes (416, up from last week's 411). The big jump is within a particular price range: $200,000 - $300,000. Good news - an increase of 17 listings in that price range compared to last week. Of those 17, 13 are new listings (the other ones either came off of "Hold", Escrow was cancelled, price change, etc.). Bad news - of those 13 new listings, 7 are Short Sales, 5 are REOs (bank owned properties), only one is a Standard Listing.

Due to this increase in Short Sales and Foreclosures, the overall percentage of active Standard listings is now at 47%, compared to 49% last week, active Whittier Short Sale listings are at 41%, Whittier REOs are at 12%.
Besides the currently active listings, there are 105 Whittier Homes and 13 Whittier Condos in Back-up Offer Status, 169 Whittier Homes and 26 Whittier Condos are Pending Sale.
Between 11/01/10 and 11/08/10, 11 properties have successfully closed Escrow - 10 Whittier Homes (ranging from $249,000 to $768,000) and 1 Whittier Condo ($290,000).
