Steps to Happiness...Be Who You Are

pic

Everybody Knows:
You can't be all things to all people.
You can't do all things at once.
You can't do all things equally well.
You can't do all things better than everyone else.
Your humanity is showing just like everyone else's.

So:
You have to find out who you are, and be that.
You have to decide what comes first, and do that.
You have to discover your strengths, and use them.
You have to learn not to compete with others,
Because no one else is in the contest of *being you*.

Then:
You will have learned to accept your own uniqueness.
You will have learned to set priorities and make decisions.
You will have learned to live with your limitations.
You will have learned to give yourself the respect that is due.
And you'll be a most vital mortal.

Dare To Believe:
That you are a wonderful, unique person.
That you are a once-in-all-history event.
That it's more than a right, it's your duty, to be who you are.
That life is not a problem to solve, but a gift to cherish.
And we'll be able to stay one up on what used to get us.

Thanks, Sharon.  After a day like today, trying to convince a legal assistant who feels threatened by any question that I ask, that "I am not a witch!", your picture and poem gave me a lift.  Thank you.

Hi Sharon- I'm reading a really good book and today when I read a chapter that was a lot about depression and being happy in one's own skin I realized that my life is very complete and I am joyful all the time.  Even when I'm up the wall from my family or a client stomping on my last nerve for a while... I'm still happy.  My life is full of love and joy and I'm very blessed.

haron, I always enjoy reading your positive narratives and will say that I usually tell people right off the bat That there is NO WAY I try to be all things to all people! Like you I have also reached the point where I am not only comfortable in my own skin but pretty happy too!

Sharon- I'm passing this on to a friend who might benefit from this.  I especially like "You have to learn not to compete with others,

Because no one else is in the contest of *being you*."

Hi Sharon, another great post, friend!  Several lessons to learn on the road of life, but since we take ourselves wherever we go we might as well be comfortable with our own company.
