As an Affiliate of Prudential NW Properties, and like a good percentage of Brokers in the company, I donate a portion of my earnings to a great program called Transitional Youth. As we all know, with many agents leaving the business, and a few less transactions, the donations that were given when these transactions closed have decreased.
Transitional Youth was created by Prudential NW Properties' owner and President Bert Waugh Jr. and works to supply food, shelter and clothing through its outreach centers in downtown Portland and Vancouver. It now also has a ranch that helps these kids to transition from living on the streets to helping them obtain full time employment and eventually moving on to living independently.
In one year, it is estimated that the outreach center will serve over 14,000 homeless youth by supplying these basic needs..and all of this is through donations and fundraisers. This is a non-profit, volunteer based program that could use all the donations they can get.
On the home page of the website http://www.transitionalyouth.org/ it says that $43 dollars will feed 30 homeless youth. With the $220 saved, I could help feed roughly 153 kids.
I look at my two sons and consider myself VERY fortunate that we have a great relationship and that they are healthy and happy. For many of these kids, they have come from abusive homes and backrounds, If they weren't initiated into drugs by their "parents" ,they started using while on the streets. I am in awe of the many volunteers that give so much of their lives to work with many of these troubled youth, but know they have great satisfaction watching the transformations from homeless, to healthy and ready to go out there and be independent.
So If I won this contest, I would use the Kodak printer and love the fact that the ink is waterproof. In Portland, I can go through many flyers when the print runs from getting wet! I will then take the $220 and donate it to Transitional Youth. To me a win/win and I love those!
"This post is for the ActiveRain "I could save $220 with Kodak contest. I have a chance to win a free Kodak printer, $220 in cash to use for the idea in my blog post, and an extra $100 towards ink!."
