So, I'm sitting here watching Dancing With The Stars wondering If Bristol Palin will make it through another week, and trying to figure out what to write about.  So my Sweetie said, "Hey!  Write about houses with docks!"

He wants one.  If I want to live with him (of course, I'll insist he make it legal) I'll have to want one, too.  And this will be a test of my ability to listen to what he wants and nail it.  Oh! And I'm trying to nail it for me, too.

We talked about it, and I went onto MRIS for a search of anything waterfront in the Metro area.  To my surprise, I found a bunch of great stuff, but it was in Prince George"s County in Maryland - including one that made my heart skip a few beats.

But there is that location, location, location thing going on.  The house has a lot of appeal - actually there are several that look amazing and are reasonably affordable.  But the idea of moving that far from downtown DC and my primary market area might be a little scary.

Still, my favorite neighborhoods in DC, like Cleveland Park and most of Georgetown, don't have docks.  We need a dock.  Sweetie has this boat  From first date, he's been talking about wanting to live someplace where he can look out the window and see his really, really fast boat at the dock ready to go.

This could happen!

Oh!  And Bristol is safe to dance another week!

OK, Pat, we will all start looking for homes with a dock. Are there AR points for the person who comes up with your perfect home?

Pat- don't get me started about why BP is still on DWTS (or why she was ever invited to be on in the first place).  Pat... South Florida... lots of water... lots of docks.  Just a short plane trip away and lots of available property now!

I'm with Margaret...the first thing I thought was that we can all start looking for your new home. How about Alexandria? Or is that too far?

Pat, I can understand your quandery.  Both venues sound perfect;  a Georgetown home near your center of business and a home on the lake so sweetie can have his boat and you both can enjoy the peace and quiet of the water.

Hi Pat, I am a fellow follower of DWTS and it is OK that I know at least one result, LOL. About your significant other and his dream that you have a place with a dock. Jack's comment is really excellent and you will just have to way the pros and cons and then the two of you decide. In defense of this wonderful idea, you may like the new location so well that you may want change your specialty area or at least add to it.

Pat,

You'll love a house with a dock! Nothing beats being able to walk out and use the boats with out the hassle of trailering to the lake. When we lived on the lake we put more hours on the boat after dark at 2 or three mph than all the day light time at 20 to 60 mph. It even beat the years we keep a cruiser in a slip.

PAT -

I'm sure there plenty of houses around with docks.  But if you get bored with that, there's always docks with houses.

Good morning Pat. For some reason, that picture does not look like the DC area...

Ahhh hello it's time to move to Belmont Bay :-)  Oh I guess that doesn't solve your "to far from DC" issue does it?  Darn.

Perhaps your Realtor can find you a home with the dock you desire. What about a deck, will that do?

Well Pat, us guys need our toys.  And we like to look at them when we're not playing with them.  But it does get expensive.

I wonder how many of us are adicted to DWTS?  As far as docks, just brings back the song, "Sittin on the dock of the bay, watching the time rolling away....."

Pat,

Last weekend, I showed buyers several lovely homes with docks, albeit in NJ.  I understand Sweetie's need for one from working with this couple!  Good luck on all counts.

House with a dock...lots of possibilities. Would a vacation home do? A pretty little cottage on the Eastern Shore?
