A troubling observation! Some people shouldn't own dogs....

I sold my home in the woods recently and moved back into a crowded community. So now I'm trying to readjust to subdivision style living and the whole "neighbor" thing...which could take awhile. I find it hard to believe so many people would own dogs that do nothing but bark. Apparently a lot of folks do because the house behind me breeds Dachshunds and the guy next to me has at least 2 Pit Bulls and 2 ankle bitters.

I have a dog. One dog and he rarely barks. As a matter of fact many times I've thought about tying a cowbell around his neck to make sure he's alive.

So to sum it all up...the two back yards closest to me contain at least 6 dogs in a piece of land that totals less than 1/4 of an acre. Amazing observation! The poor pit bulls spend their entire existence in that small, grassless privacy fenced area, never walked and from what I can tell never played with or petted. I guess I would bark too.

It's true! There's a bright side to everything..... A silver lining so to speak........At least I don't have to worry about stray cats.

Come to think of it my last neighbor had 19 of them.

I agree, there are people who shouldn't have dogs.  I am always surprised and saddened to hear of dogs who are never walked and neglected.  Why have the pet if one does not have the time to enjoy and bond with them?

As a dog owner/lover it alway breaks my heart to see neglected or abused pets.

Mike & Cindy, I'm in the middle of a similar situation with dog's barking ALL THE TIME.  I don't live next to them, but there are several neighbors who let there dog's bark all day and night.  I feel sorry for the people that live next to them.  I've had dogs in the past and never had a problem with them barking...of course I paid attention to them and they were well taken care of.

I own no pets (not really a pet person), but mostly because I do not have time to take care of one. It's like people who have children - don't take on the responsibility if you are not going to handle the responsibility!
