Raleigh has been called one of the nation's "Smartest Cities", which isn't surprising with the number of incredible universities and colleges in the greater Raleigh area!
Here's some quick facts about each of the Raleigh area's colleges and universites - your Raleigh relocation resource.
Campbell University is a Baptist-founded institution, accredited to award Associate, Bachelor's, Master's, Education Specialist, and Doctorate degrees. Campbell also offers a "distance education" program with online courses. The university offers students opportunities in the schools of divinity, education, pharmacy, law, and business.
Campbell's campus is located in Buies Creek, half-way between Raleigh and Fayetteville and one hour from the Research Triangle Park.
Durham Technical Community College is a member of the North Carolina Community College System. Durham Tech has three main campuses, the Main Campus in Durham, the Northern Durham Center, and the Orange County Campus located in Hillsborough.
Durham Tech is accredited to award Associate's degrees in Arts, Science, Applied Science, and General Education. The school is also accredited to award various diplomas and certificates. Durham Tech offers full and part-time enrollment, as well as credit and non-credit courses, both in the classroom and online.
Duke University is a private institution, known not only for its prestigious educational programs, but also for its strength in the field of medicine. Duke's hospitals, medical centers, School of Medicine and School of Nursing are all nationally recognized for their research, clinical care, and educational initiatives. The children's hospital and cancer research and treatment centers are particularly well-known.
Visitors of Duke are often attracted to the Sarah P. Duke Gardens, the Nasher Museum of Art, the Duke Lemur Center, and the Duke Forest.Duke University is located in Durham, North Carolina.
Meredith College is the largest private women's college in the Southeast with 32 undergraduate majors and over 2,000 students (both graduate and undergraduate). The Meredith campus is composed of 225 acres in Raleigh.
Each year, class work, campus activities, and service-learning at Meredith are focused on one "campus theme." For the 2008-2009 year, the theme was the environment.
North Carolina Central University, founded on "Truth and Service," offers more than 100 undergraduate and 40 graduate fields of study, as well as several professional degrees. NCCU maintains a state-of-the-art biotechnology institute, which conducts research in conjunction with companies located in the Research Triangle Park.
NCCU was the nation's first public liberal arts school founded for African Americans. NCCU's diverse campus is composed of students from more than twelve countries.
North Carolina State University, located in the heart of the capital city of North Carolina, is consistently ranked as a "national best value" among top public universities. NC State is the largest four-year institution in North Carolina, currently educating over 31,000 students.
NC State is recognized for its strong programs in engineering, agriculture, textiles, veterinary medicine, mathematics, science, technology, and design. NC State offers over 100 majors and areas of study at undergraduate and graduate levels.
Peace College, founded as a Presbyterian institution, is an all women's college. Peace College does not employ teaching assitants--100% of classes are taught by faculty at a notably low 11-1 student-teacher ratio.
Peace College offers Bachelor's degrees in liberal arts and sciences.
The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is the oldest public university in the United States. UNC is highly ranked for its academics, affordability, diversity, and engagement with the community (local and international).
In addition to its educational programs, UNC is nationally recognized for its athletics. UNC men's basketball has won 5 NCAA championships and women's soccer has won more than 20 NCAA championships.
Franklin Street is the center of social activities for UNC students and Chapel Hill residents, as the home numerous shops, restaurants, museums, clubs, bars, music venues, and more.
Wake Technical Community College is a two-year degree institution, offering Curriculum Education courses (which give credit towards a degree, certificate, or diploma) and non-credit courses (which are for continuing education students).
Wake Tech is the second largest community college in North Carolina, with over 65,000 students enrolled across seven campuses and centers. The school offers over 150 academic, vocational, and technical specialties in the classroom and through online programs. Many students attending Wake Tech use their Associates degree to transfer into four-year institutions.
