SIGN, SIGN everywhere a SIGN!!! Blocking out the scenery, blowing my mind..... (I think those are the words).   ImageChef.com - Custom comment codes for MySpace, Hi5, Friendster and more

We have Real Estate Signs, Open House Sign

and Election Signs....

This is a lot of Signs for a small town like Charlottesville Virginia. At this time of year more signs are popping up.

These are :

Painting Service Signs

Garage Sale Signs

and the latest are Closet Installation Signs.....

So services are now putting these on our roadways!

This is too many signs in our area! (in my opinion).   What are your thoughts?

Charles, it really makes the road look so cluttered up.  Add to that the balloons on the open house Sundays and drivers can get really distracted.  The worst are the political signs everywhere -- seemingly hundreds at every intersection.

Hey I was working on a blog with the same title on the same subject. I'm a newbie so I'm just getting started trying to gather my thoughts about what I want to write about.  Not much response on this one. It should be a hot topic. I know where I live, in Southport, NC, real estate signs have just about taken over. I know we have to have 'em but I think directional signs should be outlawed unless they're removed at the end of the day as with an Open House. Our DOT removes all political signs that are left in our right of ways after an election. I hope you get more feedback on this one. I'll check back. Really nice website. I grew up in Staunton and have a niece in Charlottesville. The Shenandoah Valley is one of the prettiest places in the world!

Must be a theme.  I wrote a blog on 8/29/07 with the same title.  I always take down my open house signs right away.  What I don't get why politicians need a dozen signs in the same intersection and why real estate signs disappear and other signs seem to stay up forever.

We have a street here that was once named the Ugliest Street in America by People Magazine and it was because....the signs!!!  I'm totally with you.  I haven't seen any election signs yet but we've got plenty of others to clutter things up.

I completely agree. I live in Los Angeles, which seems to be the sign capital of the world at times. There's this home under construction a few blocks from me and it appears that every vendor involved with the home's remodel has posted their sign on the surrounding fence. Examples include:

Landscaper

Builder

Foundation

Drywall

Plumber

Electrical

Roofer

Brick layer

And so on and so on...

Southport - This is a problem in a lot of areas. Sometimes a Blog needs a little time for people to respond.

Cindy - I may have read your post and it inspired me. Or I may have been driving in Northern Virginia... you know what I saw!

The signs that annoy me most are the politicians' lollipop signs that crop up every election cycle.  Each locale normally has some signage restriction passed by the Supervisors, City Council or state legislature.  They always have an exception for political advertising.  Signs in a right of way or median are illegal by state law.  Have you ever seen a VDOT crew remove the political lollipops?
