No matter where you raise your children and decide where home is, you think you have made the right decision. DON'T LOOK back and DON'T have regrets! Perhaps, it's the area of choice is where you were raised. You may have left for college, lived on your own and decided to move back.  Well, most of us who have children usually check out the school district when looking for a home. We definitely find out if the town or city has crime, great football program (US football crazies), etc.

I was a bit disturbed when I read in a blog outside in that terrible world wide web of data and peoples thoughts (as ours is) and someone wrote:

"Take me back to the east coast and don't let me turn back! Living in Aliso Viejo, where children expect to have life placed in the palm of their hand, and neighbors not talking to you and just being miserable in your cookie cutter world YOU CAN HAVE IT!"

Wow! I was taken back and after living here, quite insulted!

I think a neighborhood is what you make of it! Relax. Maybe you don't make time to talk to your neighbors! Say, "hello". Perhaps, you are the root of the misery! Pick up a hobby, if you are a stay at home mom. We have a baby sitting business in our local community that watches your little ones called Playmates, (corner of La Paz and Pacific Park.)-btw. So, no excuses! SMILE! it goes a looooong way!!! Sometimes it's the ice breaker!  Most importantly if you are not happy, just move! I'm available to LIST your home by the way! Just tell me what you LOVED about your home when you DID decide to move here....

Also, to get back to>> why you don't like Aliso Viejo, it's possible you were raised in wide opened spaces as the Dixie Chicks explains in their song... I know I was and "Hey" I'm still here in Aliso Viejo! I'm a city girl! from Houston, TX so with that said! I know what rudeness is too! You don't just get it IN the OC! Trust me!

Nonetheless, we want you to be happy homeowners and just remember some of us like the master planned community and one should all live where it makes ONE happy! It's NOT always about how much money you could make if you relocate.... and not everyone is going to like the same living place as another... We all know that!

I agree it's the neighborhood is what you make of it. Yes, I know MV don't wish to live there but my niecee does and loves it. Money, good schools, planned community, nice modern homesbut give me old town Fullerton any day with the trains, theaters, great restaurants I can walk too, same as you sort of. It's what you make of it in your community.

I traded the sub-tropics of Brisbane, Australia (Pacific coast) for the mountains of Utah (high altitude desert) four years ago. I have never regretted anywhere I have lived - each place is an adventure. My wife is a Taixus Gal who made it to Utah via NM, AZ and NV. And, yes, we met on the Internet. Having relatives in Oceanside, makes a Pacific reunion a cinch. Love it wherever I am.
