Take a moment today to thank a veteran!

Real Estate Broker/Owner with Richard Weisser Realty

Veterans Day 2010November 11 is that day that we set aside to honor our active duty and surviving veterans from all wars.

The date is not insignificant. On the “eleventh day of the eleventh month” the Treaty of Versailles was ratified, ending the hostilities of World War I. The commemoration of “Armistice Day” marked that historic event. And it was made a legal holiday in 1938.

The name was officially changed to “Veterans Day” in 1954 as a tribute to those that were actively serving in Korea, and to honor the multitude of World War II veterans that had served the country with valor and distinction.

So take a moment today to thank a veteran for their service. We enjoy our freedom and our American way of life as a result of their courage and dedication.

So much appreciation to our military, those who have served, are serving and gave their lives so we can continue to hold dear our American way of life.  Both my parents served & I was brought up with the respect and love for the military.  Thanks for posting a reminder to pause and be thankful!

On a real estate tangent, if I may.  I am somewhat ambivalent regarding 100% LTV loan funding.

VA loans are the notable exception to that personal ambivalence.  Those folks earn every opportunity we can offer in exchange for their service.

Every time I see a military person, I thank them. They risk their lives for us. Then there are the ones that gave their life to serve our country. Doesn't get any braver than that!

Our Thursday morning coffe group has several Vets in it.  I bought rolls and coffee for them all.  Just a small token is all it is and not even close to a full payment for their service.
