You know, I have been having a hard time with the last couple of contracts we have had. For some reason they are impossible to read!!! Naturally, everyone, both buyer and seller, are out of town!!! This means e-mailing and faxing everything. People just find things on the internet and want to buy it lately!!!

I usually start with a contract that I write up and fax to myself using e-fax - then I e-mail it to the buyer who prints it, signs it and faxes it back to my e-fax. I get it in e-mail format and immediately e-mail it out to the other agent. They send it on and when I get it back in my e-fax again all of the printed lines look like MUD! The signatures are good, but you sure can't read anything.

I end up putting 2 copies in the office file - one with only the buyer's signature (so you can actually read everything) and the final with the seller's signature.

Does anybody have a better way of doing this to keep the thing READABLE???? I would love to know. By using e-mail it works well if one party is out of town, but when both are not here, it is a nightmare to read!!!

Hi Barbara Jo,  I don't have a solution but I'm parked to see what you come up with.

Stephanie - I know somebody is going to say I should FedEx it, but the whole idea of this electronic age is to stop doing just that-

I will sometimes try to darken it on the copier to see if paperwork becomes clearer.  Sometimes it works.

Ann- Unfortunately it usually doesn't - it makes the MUD thicker!!!

You're on the right track with efax, but unfortunately, once someone prints it and sticks it in a fax machine, the troubles begin. Ask your clients if they can make a clean scan and email it back. Not always possible, but it's the best way I know.

I bought a PDF scanner and ask the other agent to either MongoFax or email.

Fax degrades too much.

Tom - Thanks for the suggestion. Problem there is that a lot of people don't have scanners!

Adam - I agree totally, but a lot of agents are still doing it and don't use anything else.  :-(
