Blackberry, iPhone or Droid?

By

imgres.jpeg A couple of months ago I wrote a quick blog post seeking the experience from anyone using either the iPhone or Droid.  Several responded, which was helpful.

I chose to try the Droid X.  Amazing phone.  Does all sorts of whiz-bang things that were very convenient and even useful.

Only one problem...the email functionality, while good, was simply too slow.  While they say email would refresh every 15 minutes, my experience was that email would sometimes hit my computer, but show up on my phone several hours later.

Took the phone to the Droid tech to make certain all the settings were correct, which they were.

Bottom line?  I went running back to Blackberry in less than 30 days.  They have the email advantage, which for me is extremely important.  Now if they could just get all the other whiz-bang things that were on the Droid...  :D

So if you don't need instantaneous email, Droid or iPhone would get my vote.  But if you do, Blackberry is without a doubt the way to go.

If you're wondering whether or not to switch to another phone, it is my hope you find this information helpful.

yes, it is helpful. I am going to be getting one of the three in the next few months and want to get my money's worth for the stupid contract I will most likely be in. Thanks for your tips.

My iPhone delivers email to my phone often before my computer gets it.  I ♥ iPhone!

I have the Droid Eris from Verizon and I haven't noticed that kind of lag time in emails. Thanks for sharing your experience, Tim.

Tim, I agree with you. I love my Blackberry because of e-mail functionality and at some point I think about adding iPod for internet search. I've heard a lot of great responses from the agents who using them already. Thank you for sharing.

I have no complaints about my Blackberry other than it downloads websites slowly. The emails are the most important thing for me so I live with it.

Thank you for your helpful advice. I'm still not sure which direction I will go with my next go around. I've had two Blackberry in a row. The curve and now the Bold 9700. I like the e-mail functionality of the Blackberry, but my trackpad has been causing me problems of late (I've had the phone almost 11 months). I talked to ATT and they will be sending me a replacement, which I should get tomorrow or Saturday. I had some problems with the trackball on my curve also. I can get a new phone as of December 19th. I'm just not sure if I will get the Torch, or android. I know you can't beat the Blackberry for e-mails. I'm just tired of the trackpad of a Blackberry. They wear out after so long of use it seems. Even the trackpad, which I thought was a lot better than the trackball, but.....

Wow, I just had the opposite effect with Blackberry Storm vs Droid. I traded in my 30 day old blackberry for the droid and love it. Emails come in before even hitting my inbox on computer. And can do so much more than my blackberry. My service is with verizon.
